Replacing my R6E (i9-7900X) with the ASUS ROG Dominus Extreme (Xeon W-3175X)

I am amazed by how well this CPU overclocks given the huge amount of cores! I have to say that no matter what they say about Intel the consistently deliver the highest possible clocks in their CPUs and has been like that for decades.

Yeah maybe he won the lottery or these chips just overclock well due to the amount of juice and theres no issue with cooling as the IHS is like the size of a sardine can.

Or I did a decent job of timing, picking the right blocks, setting up the loop correctly, picking the right pump, rads, and fans combo etc. I could be on air you know. Or an AIO. On these chips it is all about the cooling. That is why I made the decision to water cool it and not go air or AIO. If you cool them they will OC well. I do not think I am sending that much juice to the chip for the number of cores and the 4.6 or 4.8 (this was no easy feat with 28 cores on water, maybe a chiller or ln2 it is easy) OCs I got either which definitely helps with the temps too. Nah none of what I did mattered, the time or effort, it must be I won the lottery and/or the IHS is the size of a sardine can. Anyone can do the same with no effort.

And oh BTW I have a MSI GT75 TITAN-094 laptop with a Intel Core I9-8950HK on air of course that I OCed to 4.8 (a wee bit higher with the BCLK at 101 when just benching) running 24x7. Had to be a lottery on that one too because it couldn't be the IHS size.

My RE6 I replaced was running at 4.8 24x7 with similar water cooling components.

Cooling only gets you so far mate, you could have the best cooling in the world and have a lemon of a CPU which needs high voltage for a small overclock, my 7900x did 4.9Ghz on 1.28v, my 7940x did 4.6ghz on 1.243v and my 7980XE does 4.6ghz on 1.23v all these have been run under the same loop, but the XE I have dropped down to 4.5Ghz 1.2v due to heat it puts out even with a copper IHS and sanded die with LM these chips don't have the IHS scale to transfer the heat good enough even direct die is a waste of time the die is only small.

The cooling I was referring to was the Intel Zeon W-3175X. My point was it OCs well as a whole when cooled properly and most chips do. I understand not all silicon is the same. But to that point and my other point I wanted to get across is it takes knowledge, effort, and time to figure out how to get high OCs period. It ain't just the lottery or a big IHS mate. And cooling is as much as an art as knowing how to OC, and it ain't all voltage.

Not really cooling is a small part of overclocking yes its needed for sure but any one can go out buy chiller and run that CPU at 20c but that wont mater if your CPU is a lemon.

Nice and nice OC on your laptop, I never said the IHS helps with overclocking it helps with temps mate lol.
