Boot issues after enabling XMP - Maximus X Code

Hi, ROG people!

I upgraded my system last year to the following specs:

  • Maximus X Code
  • i7-8700K
  • 2 x 16 GB Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 3200 C16 for Intel 100 Series
  • Samsung 970EVO (PCIE mode)

I didn't bother to fine tune it in the first place so my RAM worked at generic 2133 MHz. Boot time was under 10 seconds.

Recently I started feeling greed 😛 for not having it working on declared 3200 MHz so I went to BIOS and enabled XMP profile. It correctly set the frequency, timings and voltage. After restart, it took a while for the ROG logo to appear. Went pretty quickly after.
Another time after fresh start, it rebooted on its own and when Windows login screen appeared thereafter, it gave me BSOD and Memory Management error.
In some cases, it boots up as quickly as before.

Please advise kindly.

Regards,

xmp no always a guarantee. Best thing is to manually input ram speed, voltage and timings. May have to manually tweak vccio an system agent voltages as well
