Hello guys, I recently joined this page and I saw forum... I see many experts are here so if you can give an advice what to buy next 🙂

Okay , atm I have dual core amd and random gigabyte mb.

I'm buying new processor and MB. I was thinking about i5 2500k and I dont know what MB to buy. I came back to gaming recently so I dont know much about differences in chipsets, What to buy now? P67 or x79 ? I'm thinking of Sabertooth , ASRock Fatality or some Gigabyte MB... What do you say think and girls ? Help your fellow gamer 🙂 🙂

If you're going with the 'mainstream' i5-2500k or the newer i5-2550k you'll need either a Intel P67 board or Intel Z68 board and from reading various reviews, the later (Z68) is by far superior!

As for boards, well... I quiet fancy the P8Z68 DELUXE/GEN3 and if ROG is what you prefer, then the Maximus IV Extreme-Z (ATX) or the more compact Maximus IV Gene-Z (mATX)

For the time being you can forget about the X79 chipset unless you're willing to pay upwards of $590 for the processor then another $250-400 bucks for the board?? - Basically the X79 symbolised Intel latest offering for the 'enthusiasts' crowd, aimed towards those who demand more processing power for their threaded applications. Since most games only support dual or quad core at most and a handful support hyper-threading there's really no point in moving to this tire.

Well this is my first, lets say, quad core processor and I'm lookin' for a best buy. Afterwards I'll go after i7, now I'm going for an i5 and some solid MBO. My friend who owns a computer shop tells me that ASrock Fatal1ty p67 is the best buy atm for my needs...

this one Z68 - MB GIGABYTE GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3

or P67 - MB ASRock Fatal1ty P67 Performance

Don't know what to buy :S

Almost same price, you said I should go with Z68 chipset... Why ? 🙂

Well.. besides gaming, I don't know what else this system might tackle over it's working life. You could dabble into editing home videos, managing and streaming videos etc...

The P67 and Z68 are very similar, they both support the same processors and aimed towards the same market. Aside of the common features such as USB3 & SATA III, the newer Z68 boasts a few neat tricks; they're all there to give the user a great user experience with increased performance... Essentially, choosing the Z68 could offer you faster mechanical disk access when teamed with the small yet specialised "SSD cache", this would boost your read speeds by several folds! - might be a worthy add-on feature - even if it's no uses now, it might be a year from now.

Infact, why not spend a little time and check out this indepth review, you'll learn loads and in return offer you a more informed choice.

Consider this, that mobo will work great with that cpu..

P67/Z68...... Go for the P67... More economical.. And you will not notice the difference......

next..

You want to upgrade, some time in the future, what can asus offer you then? Take a guess...

I think asrock is ok..

But you wont be getting Lil rog......

Thank you guys for your feedback 🙂 As this is my first bigger investement I'll go for Fatal1ty and when I get more money and when money wont be a problem I'll probably go for ROG motherboard 🙂

Thanks! 🙂

In my humble opinion if you think of buying an Asrock now, with the thought at the back of your mind of changing it soon, it would be a worst waste of money. Think about it as an investment, ROG mobo's are easier to sell them if you want to upgrade in the future.
