Cool How do I get a 3D display?

One of the reasons I bought my Asus ROG laptop was the Blu-Ray drive, which I wanted to use to play movies without having to cross the room to my hardware player (as I have mobility problems, doing that is quite literally a pain). Unfortunately, no player software I have used can output 3D to my TV in a format it can understand (active shutter glasses type); they all complain that my setup is not "HDMI 1.4 compliant", and I have no idea what is wrong. (I don't think it's the HDMI cable.) Can anyone shed any light on this? Is there perhaps some test software I could download which would tell me which part(s) of my setup I need to upgrade?
