Rampage VI Extreme Omega Freezing on SATA hdd high I/O??

Really like my new Motherboard, most of my components were from my old setup which was a Rampage V Extreme. I have 2x M.2's now but I also have several Sata HDDs which are purely storage. But I have been moving files between those SATA hdds and it starts off ok but then Windows just freezes and even the case reset button doesnt work!! I have to hold the power button to power it off, its done this a few times now so I wondered if anyone else here has seen similar issues?

I have got PCH temps around 55C to 65C and thats mainly the 2x m.2s under the coaling, but i read a thread on here about that. It said that those temps are normal, so im struggling to find the cause as the drives are health?

My setup spec is: -

Intel I9 9960x
Rampage VI Extreme Omega
Extreme Tweaking settings all on Auto
Nvidia RTX Titan,
Samsung 970 pro m.2
Samsung PMXXXX m.2
4x 2.5" sata hdds
16gb RAM 4x 4gb Crucial value dimms
Ryuo 120mm aio cooler
Windows 10 ent

Thanks in advance

Now I'm seeing hdd errors on my m.2_1 every reboot it's doing chkdsk to repair my c drive.

Smart says it's healthy, so I've no idea what my issue is now. I'm seeing freezed now when copying lots of data etc so it's Def disk related.

Has anyone seen similar problems or has an idea what it could be?

Hi,

Maybe start with downloading Samsung magician for your M.2 drives.. see what info that reports.

As for the mechanical HDDs try downloading Western Digital Data LifeGuard Disgnostics and perform some tests.

I have the same motherboard and a Samsung 970 Pro drive too, and have not had such issues. Your temperatures sound fine. I'd suspect a software driver or Windows issue given your description. I run five update checks myself whenever I start my machine. It takes a few minutes, but can save on headaches later. My security software regularly (sometimes more than once a day) finds security and other updates. I also use Intel's Driver and Support Assistant to check for updates, along with Nvidia Experience and Windows Update too. I had an issue with some of Intel's software I had installed using Armory Crate and so simply uninstalled it. Hopefully this helps. Keep us posted.

Edit: I might also try clicking on the drive in Device Manager and having it check for updates that way. If there were no updates needed, at least you can rule out driver update issues.
