AIO vs custom loop

My CPU cooler works well. It’s the EK Phoenix 360. My question is whether I can improve thermals with a custom loop. I’m thinking of EK products with a combo pump and res which is certainly more powerful than the pump in the AIO. My concern is that I don’t think there would be that much difference in cooling performance. Thoughts? Thanks.

Hi,

EK Phoenix 360, is a decent size RAD.... Are you running this in a PUSH / PULL fan configuration?

Going custom loop will in my experience always give a better result. Just how much is the question and do you need it?

Remember Custom loops can become expensive with pumps, pump tops, RADs and fittings.

Whats your CPU and your IDLE / Under full load temps?

Yes, it’s push pull. Idles about 29-32C and mid 70s with a full load. Hits close to 80C with handbrake but only for a few seconds.*

Do I need it? No way. Works great as is. Just wanted to build something, a new challenge but with the expense that you mention I’m a bit reluctant since it’s likely there will be little improvement.

Thanks for your input.*
