Maximus VIII Gene MB - USB 3.1 not working

Hey all,

I've got a Maximus VIII Gene and I can't get my USB 3.1 ports to work.
I've flashed the Bios, tried IObit, looked for newer drivers online, looked for help, and just can't find anything beyond "this seems to be a persistent problem with ASUS motherboards" with no solutions offered.

Has anyone experienced this and does anyone have any info?

At this point I'll settle for a direction to start running.
