Ram capacity and overclocking capability?

hello anybody...

does ram capacity affects overclocking capability?
i.e 16 gb kit vs 32 gb kit.. is it easier for IMC to handle lesser capacity?

It depends on motherboard and processor. If you want higher frequency and super tight timings you wanna go with 8gb sticks. The more sticks you have in the system the more limited it can become. There are select boards that run better with more sticks, but in the sense of an everyday system it will not really be noticable if you have to downclock frequency a bit. I have 2x16 4000 frequency sticks and had decent success at 3600 frequency. But I am running x299 and it is difficult and in some cases impossible to go beyond that frequency. Another factor is the type of sticks. Samsung bdie ect. Have a voltage goal that you are unwilling to go beyond. I refuse to go past 1.38 volts for dram for everyday use. But when I was just benchmarking I went to 1.42. The results weren't much better but if i had 8gb sticks it would probably help. Hope this helps. If you have any questions let me know. I've spent a good amount of time overclocking ram and fine tuning ram for everyday use

Basically yes...as always it depends on the actual CPU sample but in general less ram and lower frequency is easier to run....

The sweet spot is 3200MHz with CL14 timings.

If you don't need 32GB, go with 2x8GB sticks. They are much easier to OC, even versus 2x16GB sticks.

Thanks guys for replying.... now i understand why . i got to crank up a bit IO/SA voltage with the 32 gb kit to get the speed and timings i desired while the 16 gb kit needs less...

now i'm running my 32gb kit (f4-3200c14d-32gtzr) @4000 mhz 17-17-17-34 2T, 1.35 v. seems stable with 1.22 IO/SA voltage... do you guys think its safe for daily use?
DIMM temps peak @46 C when gaming,. idle @30-32 C.. is that okay?
