G73SW-BST6 Questions

MassiveEffect

Now this is one of my first posts to this site I have done plenty of research pon customizing this laptop. My first conclusion is the ram max 16g is because of the CPU. If I upgrade the CPU to 2.5ghz sandy bridge which the max ram for that CPU is 32g of ram. Now here is where my research has failed me.

Lets see if my fellow tech heads can help with my questions
Cpu i7 2760qm
If I upgrade the CPU to the 32g max model would the g73sw-bst6 moba beable to use it properly.

Also without the cpu upgrade would the moba accept 8g ram sticks as long as I stay under the 16g max for the stock CPU

Your model, Asus G73SW-BST6, came in two flavors:

1. Intel® Core™ i7 2630QM and DDR3 1333 MHz SDRAM, 4 x SO-DIMM socket for expansion up to 16 G SDRAM (Quad Core).
Quad Core CPU model can support 4xSO-DIMM, up to 16GB DDR3 1333 MHz DRAM (Total 32G RAM?)

2. Intel® Core™ i5 2410M and DDR3 1333 MHz SDRAM, 2 x SO-DIMM socket for expansion up to 8 G SDRAM (Dual Core).
Dual Core CPU model can support 2xSO-DIMM, up to 8GB DDR3 1333 MHz DRAM (Total 16G RAM?)

Th above information is on this page:

https://www.asus.com/Laptops/ROG-G73SW/specifications/

Any other CPU might not be supported within the latest BIOS dated 2011/2/23.
G752VSK, G75VW-3D, G51J, G1S
Homebuilt Windows Server

Sorry took so long to respond the CPU I have the i7 flavor
Sandy bridge from the reading I was doing when it come to this laptop the current CPU in it has a max 16g of ram

The last sandy bridge of that gen the architecture of the CPU is no different than the current it rises the GHZ by .5 and also the max ram capable when using that CPU is 36g of ram

And the other question still needs an answer will the ram slots properly use a 8g stick of ram
