    hey guys,

Sorry in advance if I sounds like a noob, but I'm wondering if the b450-i + 2501 + ryzen 5 3600 issues I'm seeing with memory could be bios related. Problem is: can't have two cmk32gx4m2a2133c13 stick at once. Worst, only one of the slot (the one closer to the CPU) let it past POST. Tried to swap the sticks, both works when in that slot, any other config maike it fail as if nothing was inserted (ie. not even a single q-led is lit + slow'ish CPU fan speed). I might try a non-released BIOS once I'm more confident about not bricking the system. Also, could it be related to some post on reddit mentioning problem related to auto-detection of RAM timings ?

    Thanks!

ps: same bios + athlon 200ge works like a charm

And how is any of this the fault of ASUS?

"running fine" is relative to your personal point of view. Personally, I'm too old to not read between the lines of what's really happening here. It's more than obvious that this chip was rushed and had little to no Q&A before release, and It's also obvious that they set the boost clock so high to be ahead of Intel, it should be a meme. How do you let ship a consumer chip that goes to such high temperatures/voltages without anticipating a backlash is beyond me. Secondly, yes, the chip is fine, runs cool and quiet, as long as you don't enable Boost; I haven't tried but I'm sure if you limit boost to something more reasonable, it runs with acceptable temperatures as well.

This is not Asus fault, as far as I remember the thci-tchat I've had in the threads on this forum centered more around the issues the CPU has, a lot more than the motherboard issues that were quickly fixed.. I'm returning the CPU, and the Motherboard. Even if the C7H is fancy, I'm not keeping the motherboard to display it on my wall. I'll buy something else sometimes later, my old system can still last me a year easy. I bought a R5 3600 out of trust because I didn't have an issue in the past, and I've never had any issues with their gfx cards, even back to when it was ATI. However, I didn't buy a CPU do spend most of my time fiddling with settings to get it to work "correctly".

Which cooler are you using? I am seeing high temps with Noctua NH-U12S

    - dont be looking for boost changes, the higher booster is only due to the 1002 smu f/w, 1003's smu f/w is not the 'high booster', why the newer smu is a 'weaker' booster one can only guess.

So bios 2501 will still be the better performer when this new bios(2703?) arrives? 2501 frequently boosts to 4.4GHz with 3700X, 2602 was stuck at 4275MHz.

I guess I rather have better performance and a few annoying bugs, and will probably wait for 1.0.0.4 or later.

And I also guess the advertised +200MHz boost function will never work, I suppose AMD will have to remove it from all their promo material and remove it from the bioses. Maybe it will work for another stepping of the cpus on 7nm+.

Thanks for keeping us informed Shamino!

Btw, FYI so has PPT, TDC and EDC gone completely frozen in Ryzen Master for me. Erasing and reinstalling the program with full shutdown in between doesn't help. Package Power is also frozen in HWINFO64. CPU+SOC power works, topping out at 111W under torture with the 3700X. 2501 is bug ridden, but performs pretty well.

The frequent C5 on reboot is annoying, but shutdown solves it every time.

Will the Asus WMI implementation be fixed now? It's really annoying when fans suddenly stop or instead going max RPM
It's happening when none of the monitoring softwares running, so nothing is polling the I/O chip.

I was actually hoping for some improvements on memory compatibility.

On the 48xx series BIOS I could use DOCP to run memory on 3600MHz, the 5007 version gives max 3200MHz on DOCP...
