Was having problems with EZ Update falsely saying some driver was needed, so I installed the latest EZ Update. The old EZ Update did not say EZ Update needed to update itself, btw. Now with the latest EZ Update the system is getting the newest error, the same as others: *Can't open ASIO.sys !! (5)* Okay... Calm down...

The little window pops up at startup. Way cool. A new error to replace the old one.

Yup. I'm continuing to have the same problem despite reinstalling AI Suite 3 five minutes ago. Blah.

I installed a bunch of Windows updates half an hour ago, so don't want to go back to any restore points. I did the AI Suite III reinstall in the first place to fix a different error. Going back to some restore point will just bring back that error.

I guess I should just be happy with the new error replacing the old one. Way cool. All in good fun, I guess.

Edit: Chatting with online help at Asus as I type this. The customer service rep is "Looking into this for me." They apparently appreciate my patience, too. Perfect.

Edit 2: Asus needs to rename EZ Update to "NOT SO EZ Update."

Okay. Here is what the Asus customer service rep in chat said:

Use Revo Unistaller, and uninstall AI Suite III. Then reinstall. I will inform here later regarding how this worked out for me.

Verdict: Two hours later, after multiple attempts to resolve this, the error won't go away. Uninstalling with Revo Unistaller did not help. The error is back after uninstalling the works and then doing a fresh reinstall.

Just so you know, in my case the issue is with AI Suite 3.00.51 and EZ Update version 3.00.52 and a Rampage VI Extreme Omega motherboard.

The customer service rep also recommended doing an SFC Scan. I will do that and post the results here when done.

Okay, so I uninstalled AI Suite III and EZ Update with Revo Uninstaller, and removed absolutely everything. Then I reinstalled and still got the error: Can't open ASIO.sys !! (5).

So after that I did an SFC scan and when done this is what I got:

Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them.
For online repairs, details are included in the CBS log file located at
windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For offline
repairs, details are included in the log file provided by the /OFFLOGFILE flag.

Okay. So my system has some corrupt files. So I reinstalled Windows. That's right. And after that, guess what? Same error: Can't open ASIO.sys !! (5).

I also then ran SFC Scan again. And guess what? You guessed it: Same SFC Scan problem.

At this point I am at a loss for what to do next. I guess I will just ignore the error. Short of reformatting my hard drive and doing a complete reinstall of Windows and everything I don't know what else to do. What a joke. Doing a reformat and complete reinstall of all of my goodies is a huge task. Blah.

Edit: Just to be sure Asus software is not the source of the corrupt files, I uninstalled it with Revo Uninstaller and ran the scan. SFC Scan found the same corrupt file problems. Hence, what now?

Do you have the ASUS Flashback Utility with AI Suite on your model? Seems like the new EZ Update v3.00.11 is conflicting with that sub component, and installing a lesser version, like v3.00.9 is overcoming that issue.

got Maximus XI Extreme. The Problem is as soon you installed the EZ Update the Problem the Problem wont go away. I uninstalled everything and installed an old Version still getting the error...

    The is locate here *C:\Windows\SysWOW64\drivers\AsIO.sys*

The file is here must a Software issue. I deleted the file and installed ai Suite again but the file wont come up again so the question is which Software installs the file....

Having the same issue. So uninstalling and installing an older version won't work? Why not? I really hope I didn't wreck anything by updating
