I'm not sure because it happened to be behind a window when it locked up. I'll have to try it again with no other distractions.

I've run memtest in the past but most likely with XMP off and whatever default (and likely incorrect) settings it sets. I did 2 passes without
issues as that is all I had time for.

I'll give memtest a shot again with XMP enabled as you suggested when I have time.

Do you see my PSU being an issue at all given the fact that CPU was also unstable with the OC? I have a new EVGA 1300w supernova 80+gold I have
yet to install to see if that is my issue.

Do you have a recommendation as to what means I should OC the CPU in the BIOS. I am not that familiar with the intricacies as I bought this board because I thought
a board built for OC would be the most stable for someone that had no intention of overclocking.

Just having a guess on experience here also have you tested to see if your CPU hits the turbo boost clocks it should? sometimes a combo of components need to be fine tuned you might have 1 lazy core or a weak IMC, does this happen when running no XMP? and just because a board is made for overclocking it doesn't mean its more stable the amount of features they cram onto these boards sometime backfires so most of the time a basic board will be more stable overall.

How is your memory installed? Post a picture.

On the PSU, what do you have currently?*

When i'm on "optimized defaults" which includes XMP Off my system is more stable during normal use but will eventually lock-up once
under heavy load such as rendering.

How do i check if my CPU is hitting the turbo boost clocks it should? Prime95?

I've attached an image of my RAM configuration.

My PSU is a Corsair RM1000X. I believe it is gold rated.

This is NOT the mother board. Ive been running it stable since its release, upgraded to 9940X from 7900X and upgraded from a pair of 1080Tis to a pair of 2080Tis. Memory kit is the same, all 8 slots full of corsair dominator X299 kit 64GB. Im a few revisions behind you on BIOS, 1603 as I dont have issues, if it isnt broke dont fix it.

Is that a matched memory kit and spec'd for X299 use?
Have you tried one GPU at a time, you can just switch off the PCIE channel with the dip switches.

Something else...A lot of people are reporting issues with BIOS 1704.

    Hi Johnny. That is reassuring.

The RAM is a matched kit that is on the QVL list.

I have tried singling out the video card. I have a 2070, 2080ti, another 2080ti on the way, and a 980ti. I've tried them solo and in different combination on different
    PCI-E slots.

Is the BIOS version 1603 you're using accessible somewhere or was it pulled from the site like some of the older ones have been? Are you using "optimized defaults" or have you gone in and tweaked the BIOS? XMP On? Off? Vanilla 1603?

    Thanks..

    Hi,
    Indeed go back to 1503
1703 is not good at all memory wise not sure 1903 is any better but both are bare minimum for 99..x series chips where something is simply wrong/ wrong/ wrong with timings with samsung b-die memory which 3200C14 is and mine at 3600C16 is also.

Had a lot of fun manually tuning just to get 3600C16 stable when it was easy peasy xmp profile or manually setting default timing and default voltages before.

So you can try 1903 bios if you want too I've not yet tried had other things happen and bailed on 1903 myself actually so even I'm back on buggy 1703 bios on my 9940x.

    Hi,
Should be on your asus boards download page along with all other downloads for chipset/....
You've never done all that yet ?

Open device manager in windows I assume 10 and see how many if any Unknown drivers there are.

I've flashed my BIOS once before but I've just heard all this talk on the forum that the older and arguably more stable BIOS version do not exist on the official download page.

I've downloaded all of the other drivers/utilities for my board and have installed them.

I'll check my device manager though. I feel like the last time I looked at the device manager in depth was before Windows 8.
