Issue

GPU ramp-up 100% fan speed on boot for ~3-4s before post.
Noticed both on BIOS 5007 and 5204 versions.

I have the same problem -. Basically on COLD boot, or WARM boot the GPU fans ramp up to 100% then slows down when the board starts POST'ing. I don't believe it has anything with drivers or anything (as this is on boot). Another problem i'm running into is that the BIOS STORAGE screen doesn't display my NVME drives even though I can boot off them and see them in Windows just fine.

Older 5007 was awful for me, enabling XMP basically lead to system instability (even at 2666 MT/s). On 5204, i'm able to run 3000 MT/s on my 4 x 16 GB Sticks for a total of 64GB ( G.SKILL Trident Z RGB - DDR4-3200 CL16 - Hynix AFR chips - F4-3200C16D-32GTZRX). I'll try 3200 MT/s later today and see if it's stable with MemTest86.

Hopefully, a new BIOS will be released with 1.0.0.3ABB which fixes the following issues

1) WHEA error in Windows Event Log

2) RDRAND instruction issue (Linux and Destiny 2)

3) FAN 100% RAMP before post

4) Single Core boost clocks lost about 100 Mhz compared to version 5007 (and AGESA 1.0.0.2)

5) NVME drives not seen in SATA BIOS Info Screen (but can boot just fine) - is it only supposed to show up if it's SATA mode instead of NVME mode? The M2 slots just say EMPTY even though there's two NVME drives in the system (both M2 slots populated).

Thank you for opening this thread.

I'm having the exact same issue ever since I switched to Ryzen 3000.
Maybe it is possible to directly get in touch with the ASUS Bios developers (?).

Setup:
Mainboard: Rog Strix X470-F
CPU: Ryzen 3700X
GPU: ROG-STRIX-RTX2080S-O8G
RAM: Crucial Ballistix Sport LT BLS2K16G4D30AESE 3000 MHz
SSD: Samsung m.2 Nvme 970 Evo
Most recent BIOS update 15.10.2019

1. Result: GPU fans ramp up to 100% before post
2. Same setup using a Ryzen 5 2600: No fan ramp up whatsoever
3. Same setup using a Ryzen 5 2600 and a X470 Hero VII Wifi motherboard: No fan ramp up whatsoever
4. Same setup using a Ryzen 5 2600 and a Asus ROG STRIX X570-E GAMING: No fan ramp up whatsoever
5. Same setup using a Asus ROG STRIX X570-E GAMING: fans ramp up to 100% (Ryzen 3700X is back)

Fans ramp up for about 9 seconds.

There seems to be an issue with the communication of
Asus Bios + RTX2080 Bios + Ryzen 3000 series

Does anyone have any idea how to reach the bios-developers?

The German customer support was not able to help me so far but maybe it is

Hi man,

Thank you for sharing your problem.

Unfortunately, none of ASUS employes respond to our problem.
For now, only 5220 BIOS version that reduced boot time and GPU fan ramp-up duration to ~4/5 seconds.

We are alone on this forn now...
