So some updates on my 8D code issues.
I used default bios settings (only with some minor tweaks) for the last two weeks and I had 0 issues. Rock solid on 2103 version.
Then before I started again trying to set up my RAM running at 3600MHz I cleaned RAM contacts, DIMM slots, removed CPU cooler, resit everything, applied new thermal compound just to be sure I will never encounter 8D again
That didn't work (couldn't even boot @ 3000MHz) so I downgraded to 2010 version, reapplied all settings and I got my first successful boot @ 3600MHz !!
Then I started playing with the voltages in order to lower the temperatures.
So far I'm running these (without lowering performance) - 7019 points @ cinebench r20 and around 52x in single core. I'm pretty sure there's still room for improvement so I'm open to any suggestions.

I won't mind a 10% performance decrease if I can make it idle below 40 degrees C. Right now it sits between 42-47 with spikes up to 52-55 degrees (without me doing anything). Just trying to run a cool and quiet system, lol.
Just some notes:
- VDDSOC Voltage Override [1.06250] -> gives me 1.48V on idle.
- DRAM Voltage [1.36000] -> gives me 1.352 V
Setting CPU Core Voltage Offset any higher (meaning less voltage) than 0.08750 makes it unstable. Idle VCore seems to stay between 1.113 and 1.3x VLast edited by 72CZR; 08-14-2020 at 10:53 PM.

Exact same issue here... 128GB G Skill 3600 (32gb x 4 DIMM). Ryzen 3900x 12 core on a x570 e strix gaming board.
My Ram is listed as supported here - https://www.gskill.com/qvl/165/166/1...18D-64GTZR-Qvl
So yeah, a bit frustrated with this. It's so intermittant it may have been happening with older bios and I didn't notice. I've emailed G Skill tech support and also Asus, will report back.Last edited by primeshooter; 01-17-2021 at 06:17 PM.

UPDATE -
I read increasing the RAM voltage could stop this issue from occuring...but got worried about increasing the voltage, I read lowering it could work in another forum. I did one thing - bios and changed VDDCR SOC Voltage to 1.06250. Restarted 25 times and cold booted 5. Not seen the issue (normally would experience it at least once in that time but more likely 2-3 times.) Will report back if I see it again but 30 times sounding good so far.

i bought a new PC about a year ago now. I have this motherboard. Luckily for me (i say that very losely), haven't had any major issues with the mobo. But, just wanted to say, for a motherboard that costs the price it sold at. Why are many people having issues with the mobo. I mean, the mobo should be working fine. I understand that it's not for many people and myself am using a 4 RAM stick setup so im just glad my PC is working ok.
I running the 1302 bios i think as im too worried to try any later bios drivers. With what i've been reading through the months on people trying the bios updates and for their PC not to boot well.
I just wanted to say, i never thought that this mobo would have issues like i've been reading when i purchased this originally. I mean, this is suppose to be a top notch mobo right? What i see about the mobo updates to. I'm just playing safe and sticking to 1302 which i recall is one of the more reliable ones where no one had any major issue with. I realise im maybe 6-8 bios behind now but i just keep reading bad stories with ppl and their experiences with the bios updates.

Hey i used to think a bit like you. Remember every board is the same, check any forum. Especially when you are using ultra fast ram and speedy processors that are new. Its not like an xbox. The system doesnt know your setup, voltages, hardware. It can all need a tweak to get it stable. This is a good board.
Do you think lamboughini's dont have issues? Stuff that is out there usually does.

So asus replied when I submitted a service ticket on the 8D code issue. Initially they said they dont think 8d exists! I replied and linked this thread. See email below. How is a system stable when it fails to boot intermittently? I have told them I lowered the SOC voltage to see what they say.
Customer Service Feedback
Dear ASUS Customer,
Thank you for contacting ASUS Support.
Do you get 8D or D8 ? As I can't really find 8D in the q-code table -> https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/m..._UM_v2_WEB.pdf
D8 is invalid password, probably refers to BIOS password but under normal boot it shouldn't ask you for such.
If the system is stable then ignore it if it only happens on cold boot and preferably do not update BIOS when the system is stable.
Our apologies for any inconveniences caused to you.
Kind regards,Last edited by primeshooter; 01-19-2021 at 11:53 AM.
