Based on the discussions on Reddit there are still some teething problems in Windows 10. I'm happy still using the SB Zx. You can get one pretty cheap now.

Fwiw, the card is currently stable, but I still didn't reattach the SSDs. I will have to do it tomorrow as I don't want to stay awake another day until 2am.

And yea, the screeching is gone, but there is another annoying quirk.

Nah, that driver has made no difference. I've installed it and rolled back.

However, in that process, the ACM stopped blinking. Hell, its light seems dead now. I can't turn it on. Any idea why? Just don't tell me it got angry about me posting and is now protesting. I could try apologize to it, but there could be something else at play. Something I don't know / understand.

I'm writing to share information based on my experience so far. I built my computer two weeks ago. I added the AE-9 last Friday (not superstitious). I've been using the latest driver from the Creative web site since the install. I have constant issues getting the system to recognize the card after turning off the computer and/or restarting. It usually takes between 6 and 9 reboots before the card is recognized. It's impossible to say if a restart of a cold boot makes a difference, whether the headphone jack is plugged in or not and any other variable I can imagine. When the card is working and I switch from speakers to headphones or vice versa, doing so causes YouTube to throw an audio renderer error and if playing a game, it freezes and locks up. Each time the computer is restarted even if the card was recognized the previous time and the current time, the computer treats the card like newly discovered hardware. When listening through headphones, the sound is choppy and goes weak in one channel or the other...never really stable.

So I don't know who's responsible for fixing these issues but I think it would be best if all parties worked together to resolve the issues once and for all.

Internal sound cards are not a great idea. Driver issues and pcie lane usage for a small bump in quality. People should be using an external dac/amp via optical. No drivers and no pcie lanes used plus waaaaay better quality. Leave high end sound to high end sound companies that’s specialize in creating audio equipment.*

Some time has passed. I've got to say that I am in love with the sound I am getting from this card.

Playing the music. The crystalizer, surround and bass do magic, I am so excited to keep listening to songs from AE-9, not other means that I have to play them.

There are quirks. Right now, microphone in is dead if I boot into windows after having worked in linux. The only way to have microphone working is if the box is powered up into windows directly. More here.

By the way, that blinking button, if you hold it for 4 seconds, the light will turn off.
