I was looking at the specifications of the Omega (The Encore will probably have the same)

And among others for Omega, always old ASMedia controllers for USB 3.x... (Why use Intel native controller like other brands...)
~~And only 1 header USB 3.x on the motherboard~~ 2 in fact (to connect to the front panel of the case)...
But 2 header USB2....

EDIT : Oh, on the Encore and from the images I saw, there will be 2 hearder USB3 and 1 header USB2, already better than Omega

For third-party controllers (USB and SATA) instead of native, Asus probably prefers less efficient controllers

Hi,
As far as I've noticed omega has 2 internal usb 2.0 ports
Not sure what the encore has I'd expect the same

Only function would likely be to add a usb 2.0 pci-e slot card for win-7 or legacy support since no usb 2.0 at all on either on back panel.
Pretty much why I bailed on getting one or probably either but no telling.

I had only seen a USB3 header on the Omega (an error in the manual)
I had edited meanwhile
Omega: 2 header USB2, 2 header USB3
Encore: 1 header USB2, 2 header USB3

I'm going to wait for the Encore tests, and if the VRM temperatures look as good as with a waterblock on the R6E (based on the feedback I've seen)

Hi,
I just picked up an never used/ open box x299 apex a little while ago 375.us free shipping 30 return

I already have vrm water block so no need for the air cooled stuff the omega or now encore have
The extra m.2 slots are really all these newer boards are about that and newer vrm design.

Paid more than that for a crappy prime x299 deluxe it wasn't in a sealed box either no asus mother boards are sold in factory sealed boxes anymore
I can still return my cheapo x299 tuf mark 2 to micro center.

Will be having fun next week

According to some feedback, the VRMs of the Omega cooled by fans (and surely Encore) would heat as much as those of the R6E with a waterblock

More VRms, less heating, it would seem

That is pretty impressive on air though

Not sure it's worth 3-400.us more though
Even the apex when first released was 450.us I believe kicked my self back then for not getting it and settling for micro center stock.

With the R6E, I have 50° load on the VRM with a waterblock (7980XE @ 4.6)
With the Omega, with the fans, it would be the same thing
To see if the fans are adjustable in the bios, I do not think they are PWM

Yeah on this cheapo mark 2 with a cheapo koolance vrm block I get 65c max at 4.8 full load using blender open data long test on 9940x

Ordered a heatkiller all copper universal vrm block the other day to replace this koolance about all that was in stock
I'll just install it on the apex and see what it does after making sure the mother actually works that is
