C8F overclock failed, reboot reason is 'cpu over temperature error' why?
hello guys.
Sorry in poor English.
I have amd ryzen 3900x system
Board is crosshair viii formula. bios version is 0803.
in overclocked cpu multiplier 43, voltage 1.26
Run occt 5.3.2 CPU:Linpack, system crashed and reboot.
Reboot reason from displayed in bios is 'cpu over temperature error'.
When I checked, the CPU temperature was about 78 degrees before system crashing.
What should I check?
Isn't 'CPU over temperature error' caused by cpu temperature?
Thank you for reading and help me.Last edited by HATENA; 09-06-2019 at 09:23 PM.

I have had the exact same problem with my 3900x on both the Formula and Impact boards, with even lower temperatures. I'm guessing either a sensor on the cpu is bugging, or the cpu is overheating during the crash, or there is another temperature sensor setting off the temp limit that isn't being displayed to the system. I have yet to find a way past this wall, but I prefer to keep my temperatures lower during all core work anyway so I just backed off a hair. Curious if anyone has any actual info.
