Rampage 5 extreme and NEW memory :)

Hello rog friends! I need your help. I have rampage 5 extreme and 5930k. I want to order CORSAIR 32GB Dominator RGB DDR4 3200MHz CL16 KIT CMT32GX4M4C3200C16. I know its new generation memory and my hardware is few years old. Anybody tried this combination, I know x99 is not mentioned in compatibility list on corsair site. For me, its not MUST to run it at full 3200, I am ok with lower speeds too. Trident z rgb 3000 is compatibile with x99 but I prefer dominator RGB. Thank you all!

I have 3200C16 trident z won't even post on x99 something about hynix or micron chips x99 hates at this high of frequency and loose timings 16-18-18-38

3200C14 does how ever work very well b-die and all is all I can figure and tight timings 14-14-14-34

Only CD memory worth getting if you really want the name is 3200C14 if they have it.

I cannot find c14. But, will all of those new RAMs like dominator RGB, trident Z RGB work on at least 2666 speed on X99 chipset or that is under the question too?

Hi,
Loose timings on x99 above 2800 is a coin toss
I had CD 2666C16 and it worked pretty good though loose timings and all both xmp profile 1 and 2
CD 2666C15 is total garbage on either xmp profile.

The 5930k memory controller on mine was/ is pretty finicky

I just manually set timings on 3200C14 and it just worked not to mention posted was the big cross my fingers deal

Seriously though I wouldn't chance anything but C14

Here's CD 3200C14 rgb 4x8gb kit yikes price wise though go for the non rgb trident z lol
Also x99 does not have any rgb features and would likely not be able to use the feature anyway seeing that.

Are you sure RGB doesnt work on X99 platforms at all?

Does your board have any rgb ports on it ?
Likely not x99 was before rgb craze started

Look on your boards utilities section for AURA bet it's not listed if it is you should be good although you would be better off with tight timings.

My board doesnt have RGB ports. But my asus strix 2080 TI works with Aura RGB software without any problem.

Yep might work problem really is the C16 deal instead of C14
Corsair's is stupid expensive just for rgb on C14.
