hello,
recently I have been really wanting to get the ASUS G74-sxDH7, but I found out a couple of days ago that the video/graphics card is integrated . Is this true? If it is, I might have to result to an Alienware. I REALLY want to be able to upgrade my graphics card rather than buying a whole new laptop once the nVidia I have is outdated. Dont get me wrong, I would much rather prefer an ASUS over an Alienware any day, but I have to think about what would be better on the long run. here are the different specs I would choose for both laptops

ASUS G74sx:
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit Pre-installed (Standard)
2nd Gen Intel Core i7-2960XM Extreme, 2.7-3.7GHz,32nm, 8MB, 55W
nVidia GeForce GTX 560M 3GB GDDR5, DX11 - (stock, not upgradable )
16GB DDR3 1333 Dual-Channel (4GB x 4)
1.5 TB hard drive (2x 750GB 7200rpm SATA II 16MB 3GB/s)
4X Blu-Ray Read/DVDRW Optical Drive
ntel Advanced-N 6230 Wireless-N + Bluetooth Combo Card
($2,665 from GentechPC.com)

Alienware M18x:
Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium, 64bit
Intel® Core™ i7 2860QM (2.5GHz,3.6GHz with Turbo Boost, 8MB\
16GB Dual Channel DDR3 at 1600MHz (4DIMMS)
Dual 2GB GDDR5 NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 580M – NVIDIA® SLI® Enabled (I think the GFX card is upgradable on this, but if someone could tell me for sure that would be great either way its MUCH stronger than the ASUS)
1.5TB RAID 0 (2x 750GB) 7200RPM SATA 3Gb/s
Killer™ Wireless-N 1103 a/g/n 3x3 MIMO for Gaming & Video and Bluetooth
Slot-Load Dual Layer DVD Burner (DVD+-RW, CD-RW) with Roxio
($3,978 on the Dell website, this is why I prefer ASUS its much cheaper but as I sad earlier as long as I can upgrade)

you guys tell me, which would you go for?

For myself if that's my choice....HMMMMmmmm! I would go for the Asus obviously because you couldn't get me to pay for a Dell anything.

Unless you are a certified System Builder i.e an O.E.M you won't be able to purchase better cards for the Alienware system. That kind of hardware is only limited in purchase to them, not the general public. If you are worried about the graphics on the ASUS laptop hogging the RAM in the system, why not purchase the ASUS system....save yourself the money because you didn't buy the Alienware laptop and upgrade the RAM in the ASUS yourself? it's cheap, quick and easy.
