    So I will probably test the 10980XE, when it is finally available in Europe
    And if it is not as good as my 7980XE (OC), I will keep the 7980XE

    I look for the bios and the latest Casacade Lake-X microcode

    I think depends on silicon quality and delided 7980xe will be on the same lvl or might get 2-3 C better than 10980xe, but if you mount it on direct die you might yield difference in 10C with same clocks.

    P.S If you are interested I can mail you my der8auer direct die mount to you.

    I tried the Der8auer Direct Die and sold it
    Impossible to have a good temperature on all cores
    Some get there and some don't.

    Otherwise you have the temperature of the cores on my screen a few posts above

    Weird in the 2002 modded bios, there is no longer the Cascade Lake-X microcode, for that it does not work, I think....

    47@1.2 and cache 30@1.05 manual voltages. MCU is 12Ch shown in AIDA64, TjMAX is 110C

    If you sold the Der8auer direct die frame mount, what are you using now instead? I use this Der8auer direct die frame mount and I have pretty good temps I think. The cores that were "bad"/hotter before delidding are proportionally less "bad"/hot, i.e. all cores have about 10-20C lower temps across all cores, good and bad, like for like (i.e. at the same voltages and Frequency).

    The Der8auer Direct die mount does not make the bad cores better... just not as hot as before delidding...

    By talking to der8auer and Wizerty (French OCeurs), it seems that it is "impossible" on some motherboards (not really flat, etc ...)

    I just have a nickel plated IHS (Rockit)

    Ok, got it. sorry it did not work for you. My delidding and installation with Der8auer direct die frame ina R6E original worked really well. As I said before, I get 10-20C degrees cooler cores at same clock and voltage. Allowed me to OC good cores to 4.7GHz nicely and still keep cores "cool" 60C (maxing out at 70C under heavy AVX loads). Also I use Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut liquid metal thermal "paste".

    One thing to be said is how different the good and the bad cores are (regardless of delidding). A good core needs very little additional voltage and easily hums a long cool and comfortably at 4.7Ghz 24/7 (and can be pushed to 5Gz if your are wiling to go with higher temps) while bad cores just never get there no matter what you do (with or without delidding) - temps for bad cores go above 90C and then peaks above 100C and to control individual core temps, you need to dial back the multiplier and voltages significantly - even with custom liquid cooling and liquid metal.

    The bad cores are very temperamental and you almost need to "tame" each of the bad once individually and learn how they react to standard, AVX and AVX512 work loads at various OCs and voltages and AVX offsets. Temps do not grow linearly with voltage and OC has more of a exponential growth behavior, so the trick is to find that inflection point before the core temp starts to take off and stay there - increasing voltage and multiplier beyond that core's inflection point is just going to get a hot core but vert little incremental improvement, but potential instability instead. It is very time consuming to learn each core's behavior but if you do, you'll know exactly what they are capable of - after all we payed $2000 for these so I thought the best thing to do is to invest time to learn to know each of it's cores individually...

    There can be 0.5GHz or even higher differences in OC abilities between good and bad cores depending on how high you wiling to with temps.

    Hi,
    Just got approved rma from Intel for a 9940x that core temps were 20c different at all core 45
    That is basically it's turbo speed hitting 107c
    Many pictures/ screen shots after running blender open data long and short tests which are beasts
