somebody claims 1803 windows fixes the update bug...can anyone confirm this?

no idea. i change to 1903 back in Feb.

It’s more complex issue. Thing is that after windows 1809 update AuraService.exe doesn’t work. And some things along. With 1903 you totally can’t use sometimes Aura crate and all legacy apps. Only workings version is 1083 (April 2018).
Windows introduced UWP and dropped support for old things. Asus created crate for 1809 supporting UWP but was buggy as was fast paced and now there is 1903 which totally broken all apps. So only thing you can do is either install 1803(share a link if you find) but you will be forced to update in November 2019 to 1903... so only thing whats left is to wait
