Rampage v extreme edition 10 m2 NVMe SSD drive recommendations?

I want to upgrade to an M2 drive for Win 10 64 OS and wondered whether a Samsung Evo 970 Pro or Plus will work with my REV 10 Motherboard?

If not, what M2 NVMe SSD drives will work please?

Plenty of brands work, best if you sus it out yourself ....

    Try https://www.userbenchmark.com/

    https://www.userbenchmark.com/System...V-EXTREME/6560
    https://www.userbenchmark.com/System...EME/6560#Build

Here is the procedure for install of windows on nvme drive.

1 - Make sure you unplug all SATA and USB drives, the M.2 drive has to be the only drive installed.
2 - Go into the bios, under the boot tab there is an option for CSM, make sure it is disabled.
3 - Click on secure boot option below and make sure it is set to other OS, Not windows UEFI.
4 - Click on key management and clear secure boot keys.
5 - Insert a USB memory stick with a UEFI bootable iso of Windows 10 on it.
6 - Press F10 to save, exit and reboot.
7 - Windows will now start installing to your NVME drive as it has its own NVME driver built in.
8 - When the PC reboots hit F2 to go back into the BIOS, you will see under boot priority that windows boot manager now lists your NVME drive.
9 - Click on secure boot again but now set it to Windows UEFI mode.
10 - Click on key management and install default secure boot keys
11- Press F10 to save and exit and windows will finish the install.

Once you have Windows up and running, shutdown the PC and reconnect your other SATA drives. Typically you don't put anything on SATA port 1 as this is now reserved for the NVME drive and may cause a conflict (so don't use it unless you have no choice).

    Hope this helps

PS. What is the reasoning behind you wanting nvme drive ?

thanks for the info ... NVMe choice was simply for fastest speeds and latest tech....It seems 970 pro and plus are significantly faster than previous models ... at a cost

The ADATA SX8200PNP 1TB is good price and keeps up with the samsung evo for everything meaningful. The Adata & Samsung EVO to be honest I cant tell the difference between them. There both fast, maybe the pro is faster in bench but at what cost and what real day to day noticeable difference ?

While Nvme is a step up from an SSD you have, it's not like the step up from HDD to SSD, again being honest, its just not night n day differences like the step up from HDD to SSD was for you. I have Nvme in three systems, all different, all fast, all apart from benchmarks pretty much the same when looked at through day to day use.

Here, this is bench run for my system with adata on x570 3900x
    https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/20444889

and here is the evo on x370 2700x
    https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/13814482

The last computer cant bench/link for you on, as it's now only on remote connection, x370 1800x running old Kingston HyperX Predator M.2 480GB at about Seq 879 MB/s Random 4k 58 MB/s & Deep 4k 996 MB/s - You notice it boots takes few seconds longer, that's about it.

If winning a benchmark score is most important for you and the extra warranty that comes with it, go the Samsung pro. Otherwise almost anything Nvme will be faster than ssd and get yourself what's within the budget you have in mind. I found 400gb is min size I could live with (few games, just OS and office), with 1tb being excessive for my use (mainly a gamer, little of everything else). Typically I store games off the OS drive, this makes blowing the OS away and rebuild faster.

Thanks for the info.. I ended up getting a second hand 500GB 970 Evo Plus off Ebay for £65.00 delivered. Manufactured in April 2019 - 5 year warranty.
Installed Samsung NVMe driver and migration software. Took less than 5 minutes to port my Intel OS drive and additional data. Disconnected the original OS SSD and the Evo booted first time. Everything is running as it should. As you said though, no noticeable difference in boot up times but moving large chunks of data is much quicker. Temperatures seem stable at 50c.

    Sweet!

Common misconception the boot time...will not change...loading times for everything else will!
