X570 Crosshair VIII Hero: Latest BIOS (1105), but no Eco-Mode in AMD Master

I've updated to the latest BIOS (1105) for my X570 Crosshair VIII Hero, but still don't see an Eco-Mode in AMD Ryzen Master. Is there some option I'm supposed to turn on in the BIOS to unlock that?

Background

According to the 2nd bullet in:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/dtgutp/an_update_on_the_am4_platform_agesa_1004/

"Eco-Mode" is supposed to be in AGESA 1.0.0.4 for the Ryzen 3000 family.

According to the description of the BIOS here:

https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/ROG-Crosshair-VIII-Hero/HelpDesk_Download/

BIOS 1105 is 1.0.0.4 patch B:

"ROG CROSSHAIR VIII HERO BIOS 1105
1. Update AM4 combo PI 1.0.0.4 patch B"

According to:

https://www.techarp.com/computer/ryzen-eco-mode-guide/

It's supposed to show up in Ryzen Master 2.0 or greater (I've got 2.0.2.1271) and the 3700X (which I've got) is supported.

I'm unsure if this can affect it and not checking for this mode (honestly idc)

But perhaps make sure you have latest AMD chipset drivers as well, is the only suggestion I can make.

Surprisingly, AMD hasn't updated their chipset drivers for the X570 since their 1.9.27.1033 revision in September (I really expected them to with AGESA 1.0.0.4):

So, I'm up to date, there.

Not sure, thought that might be the ticket, now you mention it, has been a while now for an update of chipset drivers.

Enabling PBO in the BIOS did the trick. In this Asus BIOS, that's at Extreme Tweaker > Precision Boost Overdrive. I changed it from Auto (which, I guess, means disabled) to Enabled. The Eco-Mode option now appears in Ryzen Master.

Thanks for the info, dude 😉
In space no one can hear you scream.

Setting PBO to On might be the wrong thing to do, though. I got that advice on Reddit (and it worked). But, after testing, it looks like there's no performance difference at all and power usage goes up dramatically:

As people in that thread are saying, PBO maximizes power, but Eco-Mode is supposed to minimize it. It doesn't make sense for them to both be on. Yet, that was the only advice I could find that caused Eco-Mode to show up in Ryzen Master.
