GL502VS-DB74 Notebook Connected to External Monitor Shuts Down When Playing Games

Hello Everybody,

Hope all is well. When I play Forza 4, or even Shenmue I & II (Old game), my laptop would shut off. I do have it connected to an ROG 27" Monitor. Though the screen of the laptop is off, I did leave the lid open in position since I've heard its designed to have heat exit that way. I also have the laptop connected to a fan at its base. Video card on the unit is GTX 1070. I also have 32GB of Ram, 512GB SSD HD, and another 1000 GB (7200 RPM) HD. Is this really the limitation of the laptop? Or is there something better I can do? Please help!

That's not normal. Does it happens when you use the laptop display?

Great Question. I have not tried that. It started happening recently, and I have been using it on the 27in ROG monitor for quite some time now.

Check the temperatures, maybe it's just overheating.

Yea, you are right. I just remembered that I turned up all settings recently. I maxed out my game settings and also maxing out my 2k monitor, which may be too much for the system to handle. Not much venting a small 15 inch notebook can do I guess.
