Aquantia 5gbit LAN ISSUE // Copying large Files over SMB

Hi Guys,

I have a problem with my Aquantia 5gbit LAN Chip on Maximus XI Formular. NIC is connected directly to my NAS DS1817 over Cat7 5Gbit Connection.

Connection seems to be stable but if i copy large files (>=50GB) over SMB to NAS the connection is crashing after a few seconds. (after that connection is down until a restart). It stops with the message 0x8007003B Unexpected Network error.

I do a lot of iperf3 tests which is running well over hours without a problem. 5Gbit Connection have no Issue while idle or iperf sessions.
The temperatur is also no problem because the board is very cold. (Keep an eye on that during the tests)

NIC Driver AQC111C 2.1.18.0
Windows 10 x64 Pro: Build 1909

Moverover i did a lot testing like

  • Disable Windows Search
  • Disable Windows Firewall
  • Disable Windows Security Apps like Defender etc.
  • Tried different old Drivers from AQC aswell the ROG Drivers
  • Tuning NIC Options like buffers, receivers, side scaling etc.

the interessting part is that Ubuntu is working fine with 5 GB Connection to NAS over SMB. (a bit slower but ~ 230 MB/sek)

So i dont know if this is a windows or driver problem. Event viewer does not show anything 😞

Any Ideas ?
