G752 looking to upgrade to SSD

Hello everyone,
First off I'm sure this is an old question so I apologize for the repeat and thankful for any help.

The Question-
I purchased a ROG G752 (possibly VL but not sure) a few years ago and it is just now starting to max out its storage. So I am looking to upgrade and being only slightly computer savvy I could use some help before dropping a few hundred bucks on tech. Currently, I am debating between the Samsung 860 evo 2TB or the 970 evo plus 2TB. I'm looking for more storage, faster boot times, and faster read/write times (obviously). I have been reading about some issues with each of these due to the SATA settings not functioning with RAID and needing to be switched to AHCI but the process looks fairly simple (although I say that now with serious dread).
So I was wondering if there are any hangups or complications I should be aware of or any suggestions anyone may have for me. I may just purchase both and do a complete upgrade if that's possible since I love this machine it just needs a small facelift.

Looking at these two:

Thank you in advance for any assistance and advice

Specs- ( I'm at work so I believe the following is correct)

RAM: 64 GB DDR4 SDRAM
Video: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980M

Run dxdiag.exe to view your system and BIOS to confirm exactly what model you have.

Both drives look good.

Get a NVMe to USB adapter to make the job easier:

Download a free copy (30 day trial download) of Macrium Reflect software from:

https://www.macrium.com/products/home

Remove your secondary drives while copying your OS.

Install Macrium Reflect on your OS drive and use it to copy your existing OS drive to your new one. Then simply switch OS drives and reinstall your secondary drive.

Good Luck

I would install a 2nd M.2 two TB in second slot,
for OS on the first m.2 slot I wouldn't go over 1TB as that is optimum 2TB are slightly slower,
960 Pro is good SSD the 970 or much faster warranty is the same and I think the 970's are cheaper.
Then you still have your 2.5" slot if you want to spend some bucks and really want a lot of storage space get a 4TB 2.5 SSD Samsung 960.
Macrium Reflect Free is free for as long as you want it to be download the free version not the trial version. Later on if you want incremental back up and scheduled backup s and tech support, for only cloning or creating Images all you need is the free version. Here is a link that shows you how to Clone in your case you would leave your Current SSD where it is and put the new SSD that your going to use for your OS and make the clone then be sure to shut down not restart!!! then take out your old SSD Put in your new storage SSD and boot up you should be running just as you were with your new SSD and New storage SSD. Same for your Old hard drive just clone it to your New storage drive or if you decide to change it out for 2.5 SSD just clone your old to the new Using a USB to SATA adapter or external USB case. Here is a link if your interested in learning Macrium Refelct Free
