Asus G70S Wifi Card Replace / Win 10 Crashes netwlv64.sys

Hi,

i have an old Asus G70S Gaming Laptop upgraded with an SSD. For Office this works fine.

My Problem is that the 4965AGN Wifi Adapter often crashes with Blue Screen netwlv64.sys driver_irql_not_less_or_equal.
This Problem is a driver Problem, Microsoft´s drivers not working fine and Intel drivers are to old in Win 10.

Anyone know´s a working replacement Wifi Card for the Asus G70S ?

I have tried Intel Centrino Ultimate 6300N, the Card where recognized by Win10 but i have no Signal.
Maybe the Card is bad or Compatibility Problem i don´t know.
The Wifi Antenna Cabel´s have the same occupancy as the 4965 card. 1 is black, 3 grey, 2 white.

The ASUS G70S has the Mobile Intel® PM965 Express Chipset +ICH8M chipset.

Intel® Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN or Intel® PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection are the only adapters I'm aware that will work.

The 4965 has three ant, the 3945 has two.

Have you tried to use the Intel Driver and Support Assistant? It's what I use to update my Intel drivers. Give it a try.

Hi,
yes i have tried both Microsoft drivers from Win 10 Ver. 1909 and the latest Intel drivers (Pro/Wireless 15.3.1).

Both Drivers crashes with Blue Screen Irq Less or Equal Netwlv64.sys.

Another Issue is that the Wifi often has no connection on Windows startup or connection interrupts after random time.
For this Issue i have created a Batch File with the following code:

netsh interface set interface "WLAN" Disable
netsh interface set interface "WLAN" Enable

That Helps to reconnect the Wifi, but it sucks.
I do not want to buy a new laptop just because the WLAN card is not working properly

Replace the Wireless Network Interface Card:

Another thought, on the left side of the G70S is the wireless ON/OFF switch. Is it in good shape or damaged. You might want to look at that.

The latest Intel Wireless driver is Version V20.70.13.2 dated 2019/09/10, installed using the Intel Driver and Support Assistant program.

The Card has no defect.

I have installed on Win 10 64bit the Old Vista 64 drivers from Asus Website, this drivers work

Why the Microsoft drivers didn´t work i don´t know they are crappy programmed 😄

I notice on that Vista driver has the following note:

Version V11.1.1.2_TIC144580
2008/05/2821.64 MBytes
3945ABG_4965AGN WLAN Driver and Application
3945ABG_4965AGN Wireless Lan Driver and Application for Vista(Please first install the Wireless Console Utility before this driver installation.)

That Wireless Console Utility is a software switch for the WLAN driver. I have a couple laptops (Windows 10 1909) that still have that software running in the background (icon in lower right corner). So I know it's still compatible with Windows 10.

Do you have the Wireless Console Utility installed? Here's a link:

With this Vista driver installed, what does Windows 10 do? Does Windows try to update it?

I often install old original drivers, when reinstalling Windows. I make Driver DVDs for all my ASUS laptops, which have all the original drivers and programs. I then use the ASUS Installation Wizard to install the drivers and programs. Then allow Windows to update what it can.

I researched your ASUS laptop but find no Driver DVD source. Do you still have your ASUS Driver DVD that came with your laptop?

Nope i have only installed Direct Console 2 2.0.7 with ATK 1.0.0040 installed this works.

No Windows 10 1909 didn´t want to Update driver.

I have installed the Driver from Asus Support Site G70S (Version V11.1.1.2_TIC144580 2008/05/28). This works fine with Win 10.
I searched a little bit more and found the newer driver Asus G70SG (Version V11.5.1.15 2008/06/06). This also works fine.
Both Vista 64 drivers.

I brought my ASUS G1S (Windows 10 1909) laptop out and fired it up.
