i'd say if you are only upgrading your cpu to a i9 10940X [it's a 165w unit] then a 750w psu should be ok considering your other components. However, It might be considered bear minimal, though.

850 or 1000 for future proof and second i read one forum that it better only 60% of PSU has to be utilized even under load.

Hi,
1200w minimum
I have a 14 core 9940x it pulls some voltage so will those dual 2080ti's
109..x series will pull more power than 99 & 79 series have you noticed the new boards coming with 2x8 & 1x6 pin cpu power plugs
Apex has 2x8 pin cpu ports so it will do okay but it's weak spot is vrm cooling
It's air cooler is trash so even with a fan directly over it will still get pretty toasty
VRM water block is best and yes I too have a apex.

I second that, it's an important point to have a PSU that works at its most efficient wattage output which on average I think is as per your 60% value. Of course you need to consider its efficiency e.g., 80+ Gold, 80+ Platinum and 80+ Titanium etc. the 80+ Titanium is the most efficient rating for today's PSUs. This is why I went for a Corsair AX1600i which is a 1600 watt digital PSU efficiency rated at 80+ Titanium. It's complete overkill considering my current build, comes at a premium price but it should be future proof for many years to come.

Hi,
Don't take advice from 9900k users they have no clue what cascade lake-x or skylake-x will pull oc'ed to just 4.8
Not to mention pull out the wall which was nearly 1000w with no gpu load showing on a kill-a-watt-ez
So dream on at 850-1000w lol maybe you buggers should get more than 8 cores
You also better make sure you have a 20a isolated circuit just for this machine !

I just punched in some numbers on PSU Calculator, using 10940X and single 2080TI as Asus Dual is not NVLink SLI cards it's a single card,.. at default settings you will be pulling just over 600W. So your fine with your current 750W running default settings, if you plan on overclocking I would go with a 1000W and you will be fine even if you do add a second card running NVLink. https://outervision.com/power-supply-calculator
