interestingly that the black ops edition stops BIOS updates at 0903, while the other Max XI editions have gone through 0903 > 1005 > 1105 > 1302 > 1401? I take it that the extra hardware features of the black ops edition might have something to do with this but I am not sure, especially since every BIOS up to 0903 were updated by the same version and published on the same date as the other Max XI series. It's as if the black ops edition has been forgotten, or BIOS 0903 is so far perfect LOL

there are so many members complaining about BIOS 1401 giving them problems. Yet 1302 is working ok for these members, so i understand. I guess ASUS engineers are working on this and hopefully come up with another BIOS update.

Hello to everyone and Happy new Year!
After update my Maximus XI Hero to new 1401 BIOS I had instability problems with PC (BSOD). Returned to 1302 - again I have BSOD every time on boot screen.
I can't go to windows. Checked everyting (another PSU, memory, M.2, SSD, HDD, GPU, cooling)!!! Tried 1401, 1302, 1105, 1005 and 0905 on default BIOS settings without luck.
I have BSOD with Windows installation USB and clean SSD prepared for installation. Nothing, BSOD every time!
Shortly I menaged to go in Windows only if underclock CPU below maximum rated speed. Intel diagnostic tool reported that CPU is OK and passed everything (underclocked). But every BSOD is related to whea, memory menagment etc. That is strange. After reset I can't go in WIndows again (BSOD) with that underclock. I had to underclock CPU again to go in windows (more than last time). And everytime after reset more and more underclock.
Thank you ASUS for bricking my MB or CPU for new year! Maybe bricked MB and CPU together. Who knows?!
