Hello

Can anyone confirm whether the original ROG VI E motherboard ( from 2017 with updated bios 2002) can accept/recognise 256GB of DDR4 ram ?
Assuming off course that one is running the latest 10th Gen of cpus, for example 10980XE or 10940X

Thank you

Interesting that the original Asus Prime X299 has confirmed support (and is mentioned on Asus website) and there is no confirmation regarding ROG VI Extreme 2017 model

Rampage VI Extreme Encore works with 256GB or RAM confirmed (with a Core i9 10980XE, BIOS 0505 modded with Microcode Update Revision F00h )

Yes I am aware of that.
I would not be asking the forum about something that is available on the website.
If you read carefully my question, I am asking about the original ROG VI Extreme form 2017. I am NOT asking about the 2019 model called ROG VI Extreme Encore.

Quick update.
I took the plunge and decided to go for the 256GB (8x32GB) Corsair DDR4 Vengeance RGB PRO Black, PC4-25600 (3200), Non-ECC Unbuffered, CAS 16-20-20-38, 1.35V kit. It works just fine on the original ROG VI Extreme from 2017 ( I am not talking about the Omega/Encore version – although I am sure it would work just fine on them ) running a 7940X i9. I have been using it for about a week without any issues at all. This means that the 10000X series will run as well on that board with that amount of memory. However, if you have any of the 10000X series CPUs, you will not be able to take advantage of the extra 4 lanes (only 44 will be used by the motherboard). If you want the full 48 lanes you will need the latest refresh of X299 mobos, eg. ROG VI Extreme Encore, Prime 30th Edition, etc.
Hope this helps someone out there

Do you remember what bios you had to use on your ASUS Rampage VI Extreme with that i9 7940x to access that much memory? I bought a 4x32GB kit from g.skill that was on the supported motherboard page on the g.skill site, but my motherboard just showed the message "detect memory" and would not get further.
