Well I have both chips, 9900k and the 9900ks .
I have the 9900k on a Apex X board.
The 9900ks is on my Apex XI board.
I have found the the 9900KS oc's higher for me, than my 9900K chip. But not by much. It does use less voltage oc'n to the higher speeds also. I posted some info on this chip about 2 months ago on another forum. I'll post this info here incase you might find it helpful.
I would also recommend to stay on the 1302 bios, as it seems more stable for me.

Most 9900K CPUs will overclock to 5GHz on all cores since turbo on Intel CPUs is not tied to specific cores, so all cores need to hit 5GHz, albeit one at a time with the 9900K. The 9900KS can hit it all the time. However, we should mention that these are the most highly binned 9900K CPUs out there, and should be capable of meeting or exceeding the most stable highly clocked 9900K CPUs without much effort. The new CPUs come with a one year warranty, and you can purchase the Intel Protection Tuning Performance Plan if you decide to overclock. Intel's recommended price is $513, which isn't too much more than the $450 recommended for the 9900K.

Asus rog Maxmius xi apex, rtx2080ti fe, custom loop gpu and cpu, gskill 4266 ram, 970 evo 1tb, 1000 watt psu. runs much cooler lower voltages. 9900 k could overclock to 5.3 ghz and 9900ks 5.65 ghz and one run in port royal at 5.7 ghs. with garage door open ambient temp abnout 20 f. 5.7 run did not beat the 5.65 ghz.http://www.3dmark.com/pr/189484, I do use K|ngp|ng thermal paste, 5.7ghz run http://www.3dmark.com/pr/189476

@OldMike65,

your input is appreciated, and helps me to make a better decision on wheather to upgrade to the ks. I can use the K on another maximus xi code i have which is currently running an i7 8086k.

@elkhog

thank you also for sharing your thoughts and experiences. Wow 5.7 GHz is crazy stuff man!! Your cooling is doing a great job and your ks cpu is great.

Yep its got be one of the best. 5.65 or 5.7 Just on water and cooled air is more then I could hope for out of the upgrade 5.3 was great for the i 9 9900k which will be a i 9900 ks now that all our binned.

J'ai le 9900kf et je ne vois pas l'intérêt de passer au 9900ks (comme le 8700k a 8086k aucun interer).

Not worth the money unless you are a bencher and need the extra +/- 200 mhz. You won't notice any difference in actual daily tasks, gaming, or content creation. I built a system for my son for Christmas using the KS and Hero XI. My rig runs 24/7 at 5.1GHz. His is at 5.3Ghz. Same coolers and GPUs. We cannot tell the difference between the 2 without running benchmarks that sees the 3% increase in CPU tasks.
