Ok, anyone have any problems with updating the CPU to Intel Gen 9 ? I have updated the BIOS to the latest and it says that the 9900 will work in the Z370 motherboards but just want to see if anyone has had problems with this?

Also do you lose anything in having the 9900 in a Z370 over the Z390 ? Ok, there will be a difference but how big ? Will it effect performance?

Should have asked these questions before I ordered but it wont be here until tommorrow so just getting a heads up

As far as i can remember 2-3 members have z370 and 9900kx chips and have posted performance data and answered other questions as well.

asus x hero z-370 wifi - with latest bios 2102 no issue with 9900 ks auto runs great max vcore was 1.26 v on auto .

also my ram 3000 mhz cl-14 oc to 4000 cl-17 with the 8700k was 41.5 ns latency i put in the 9900 ks and scores went up ! 40. 2 ns latency now

my 9900 ks for 5 gzh / 4.7 cache needs 1.22 v to pass prime 95 small ffts / asus real bench !

i have the new asus xi hero z390 here with me and its worse then the asus z370 x hero !

i cant over clcok ram as high and as tight as the x hero z370

but yes no issues what so ever with 9900 ks i have not tried the 9900 kf yet

This is good to know as I have a Max X Hero (but no 9900ks). But note that latest Bios for Max X Hero wifi is 2203 which was released on 10-17-2019. Did you have some problem with Bios 2203? Just curious.

Version 2203
2019/10/1710.39 MBytes
ROG MAXIMUS X HERO (WI-FI AC) BIOS 2203
1) Support Intel upcoming CPU
2) Improved system stability and performance
3) Update RAID driver to rev. 17.5
4) Support Intel Optane Memory H10 device
5) Update ME firmware for Intel security issue.
Before running the USB BIOS Flashback tool, please rename the BIOS file (M10HWIFI.CAP) using BIOSRenamer

Hi,
I have a Maximus Hero X with a new i9-9900KF. I have the CPU overclocked and stable at 5GHz at 1.315V, in the UEFI; however, HWINFO, OCCT, and AIDA64 all say my CPU cores are only running at 4800MHZ at 100% load with CPU core temps between 60 and 80. My cooler is an EVGA CLC 240 AIO. What UEFI settings should I look to change to get the cores up to 5GHZ, for real? Why do they only show they are running at 4.8GHz if the UEFI says "50" and there is no throttling (based on the temps? Thanks.

and a quick update.............removed 8700k , cleaned heatsink with IA and applied kryonaut to 9900kf......all up about 30 mintes as I was careful

anyway booted , went into BIOS ( chaNGED NOTHING ) and rebooted and it running very smooth with temps whilst typing this of around 34C which would be approx 14 degrees above ambient

thanks again...its good to get a heads up before doing things

not going to oc at the moment as I live in a sauna in Summer downunder.....translation its bloody hot

Z390 chipset motherboards are build specific to 9900K. You don't get the full power of the 9900k CPU on Z370 boards. 9900k Compability is written in a Bios file, on Z370 boards, that's all. No hardware improvement. I wouldn't use 9900K on Z370 board. I would wait and buy Z390 board.

kinda wrong .

9900 ks on asus z-370 x hero wifi + 32 gb 4133 c-18 @ 4200 mhz cl-17

5 ghz / 4.7 ghz cache @ 1.22 vcore passes prime 95 small ffts / asus real bench / occt / hci mem test

vrms are great and not hot !

i bought the asus z-390 xi hero wifi and guess what !

its crap compared to the asus z370 x hero ! the z370 x hero can run ram tighter timings and vrms are cooler !

i tested it against my z370 .

my 9900ks not delided runs 5.2 ghz @ 1.34 v on z370 x hero no issues what so ever
the 9900 ks + 32 gb 4133 c18 did not run as tight on the asus xi hero z390 !

the vrms on the z370 x hero wifi are better then the asus xi hero z390 been proven and shown /

other users also posted z370 x hero vs asus xi hero z390 sayign the xi hero is a down grade

the 9900 k and 9900 kf / 9900 ks can run just fine @ 5 ghz and 5.2 ghz witth ram @ 4200 mhz - 4400 mhz just fine 🙂

dont asume u need z390
