Asus Ryujin 240mm
Hello.
I'm thinking of buying an Asus Ryujin 240mm. I love the looks of it but in the end what matters is the performance.
What can you tell me about it? Performance? Noise? Comparison with other AiO.
Btw, Asus still uses the motherboard sensor instead of the CPU one, right?
Best regards.Last edited by Ichi_TK; 01-01-2020 at 11:24 AM. Reason: spelling

i remembered reading about it when researching what AIO to buy.
first shocked by the price, i dug deeper.
turns out, ryuujin had uh, fan glued on top of the pump (pump is on top of the heatsink? copper plates? that sit on top of your CPU, you get the idea) to push air to the motherboard surroundings.
vrm, mayybeee a little ram cooling.
AND RGB BLINGS, maybe too much rgb blings (tasted vomit a little there).
is it worth the price? eeehhhhhhhh......
i ended up jerry rigging 120mm fan on top of AIO pump. gets the job done too.no siggy, saw stuff that made me sad.

I thought it would work well with other Asus hardware, and have not had problems with this cooler functionally. It works alright and my CPU never goes above 62 degrees, even under a typical gaming load. It is also quiet, generally, but when first using it the little fan was kind of noisy, but it later settled down. and has never been loud since then. Asus software, however, namely Armoury Crate, Livedash, and Aura currently have no control over the LED feature (at least in my rig). In my case, I wanted to be able to see the CPU temperature in plain view when gaming, but the LED will only display the ROG logo. In a nutshell, the hardware is great, but the software, much like the service, bites.
Edit: Be aware that these coolers do not react to the temperature of your CPU cores at all. They can get very hot without so much as a single step up of the cooling because this cooler, and Asus motherboards only respond to the temperature of the motherboard near the CPU, and not the cores. This is a design flaw that supports the view that noise your fans make is more important than the health of your CPU. Hence, if you are not careful, you can brick your CPU.Last edited by Super Gnome; 03-06-2020 at 11:42 PM.

I have the Ryujin 360 and like it. Its very quiet and performs well. The fan built into the cpu block/base works well. I monitored my VRM and memory temps and they are lower running the fan. Knocks about 3-4 off my ram temps and 8-10c off the VRM temps (vrm temps via thermal probe). I have custom speed curves for my pump, radiator fans, and cpu block fan. They all stay super quiet unless I'm under heavy load. I also like the LED screen that I've set in rotation to show CPU speed, CPU temp, and CPU voltage.
One caveat to all of this is that I do not use armory crate. I run Fan Expert in AI Suite III to control my speeds curves, Aura for RGB and Live Dash to control my LED. These are all older versions that worked well so I never changed them. They made the transition to Win 10 1903 just fine. I'm not one to update drivers or BIOS version unless real performance or a fix is needed. So I cannot comment on Armoury Crate.
I will add one more thing. My son runs a similar set up to mine and I prefer the Ryujin. He has the Corsair H150i Pro. They cool equivalently but the Ryujin is a bit quieter. And I get the LED dash readouts along with better VRM and RAM temps as well.

I just bought the Ryujin 240 and installed it along with the Rog Strix 2070 Super and am loving it so far. One thing I am a lil disapointed in is the fan on the pump that cools the vrm etc. I did hear reviews saying that fan is really loud and quite pitchy, have you guys had any luck with the high pitch from the fan? Or is it something that I'm gonna have to get used to?
Cheers
