Which M.2 port did you connect the 970 Evo Plus?

Have you tried moving to the second port?

its currently in socket 1, no I haven't tried it in socket 2 yet, although I plan to have my old 970 in socket 2

I asked because the port 1 supports sata as well, and when you are using a M.2 in the port one, if I'm not wrong, you lose sata ports 5 and 6 of your mobo.
Try switching your HDD to another ports between 1 and 4.

Hi, m.2_1 is set to PCIE mode, but I will change the sata hdd to port 3 or 4 as that is not listed as being shared

but im wanting both m.2 slots used and 2 sata hdds connected, and everything should work, but alas until I find the problem

As far as I know, even setting the M.2 to PCIE mode, you still lose SATA ports 5 and 6.

Do not forget to post here if this method worked for you

changing sata port has not resolved the problem 😞

Ehm search the forum. I have been posting in section that addresses this. But I don't have time to search it now.

One of the easiest solutions is to set you hard drive to never stop spinning and go into the sleep mode, you can do this in the power adjustment section.

Second, that worked for me was to uninstall the intel raid or something drivers.

Ah yes, Inte Rapid Storage Technology Driver. Uninstalling that helped me.

Can't believe asus haven't fixed this yet.
