Area and Grott I think part of the debate is also going to be based on the area you live in. I see one is from Sweden and one from Canada, the climates are different in each locale.

85'C is unacceptable in my lab; I keep all my CPU under 65'C for short time and under 55'C for long term. anyway I'm a Water Cooler guy , ( real one not close one) actually my friend in London Ontario is finish a dual stage phase system for me, so it's gone be sub zero temps. .

Are you kidding, Sweden is not in Africa, they play Hockey outside like us in Winter. If you have a COuntry in Europe who have same weather than the Place I live, it's Sweden

$ 2,500 ........on the topic , I just call Paul at Egg to order a Phanteks , I will have it friday, I really like to try it, look,s cool. if you can wait I will report. H100 , Noctua D-14 they perform about the same, the problem with the systems like Corsair is that they don't make a good air flow around the CPU, so the regulators and chipset are not well cooled

Edit; this Phanteks, is certainly made in the same place as the Noctua, the kit bag are the same with same mounting stuff, the back plate is the same, the wire of the fans are the same, some wire adaptor are the same , the fan clip are the same, and even the thermal paste is the same ( with another name )

I don't believe it is. One company is an Australian company and the other is a UK company for starters.

Sorry , get the facts right please... non of them are probably manufactured in Europe , for sure Noctua are made in Taiwan or China by Kolink International Corporation , a Taiwan Company
It's the design who are made in Europe :

From the Phanteks web site : "Phanteks design team which has a base in Europe situated in Holland"

From Noctua "Designed in Austria, Noctua's premium cooling components ..."

note the word design.... country means nothing, Some model of Corsair PSU are made my Seasonic.

They share quite few thing, even their web site look the same, it's the same back plate and same parts envelopes, even the label is the same, Saturday I will unbox both, the Phanteks and the D-14, you will see I'm right.

I understand that there are many similarities. However, even if they are produced in the same plant/place, it does not mean they are exactly the same. One was "designed" by Phantek and one was "designed" by Noctua. Each company has there own little tweaks to the standard double tower design.

However, this debate is not between Noctua or Phantek, but rather what the better cooler is for around $100 or less for a i7-2700K.

    Thanks all.

I never mention they was exactly the same, some parts are the same, same envelopes , I never say the cooler are the same, I never mention the cooler himself. I just mention it's probably the same OEM manufacturer who build them.

between those 2 , choose the one you prefer for the look, I'm dam sure they perform about the same, one thing is sure I will know this week end.

with fan like this beat the H100

Oh God look at what an eyesore that is.

Sorry I'm a minimalistic kind of guy and I like my computer as clean and eye pleasing as possible that way you can get more air flow in the case and not have a hunking piece of metal and plastic like that get in the way.

Sorry the above pic vs this?

    I'll take my H100 thx.
