Rampage IV Extreme. Is there anything I need to do before I upgrade to windows 10?

Yo guys. The new Call of Duty crashes on me a bunch. I think it is because of DirectX 11 on windows 7. So I'd like to use that free upgrade and try to fix this issue.

I know where all the drivers are located, but do I have to do anything beforehand? I have never updated a motherboard BIOS, or flashed one. Is it as simple as downloading the new BIOS onto a USB and using the flash tool in the BIOS to upgrade to it? And should I flash the BIOS to the newer version before or after upgrading to windows 10?

Thanks in advance!

Also I guess I should ask, does it matter which BIOS I flash to? In Bolts4breakfasts download link, there is a 4206 and a 4901. Which one should I use?

Would use 4901, this is the most current bios. Also, if you have updated the MEI firmware, recommend you do this too. Then when updating drivers, they are all available on station-drivers.

I have not updated this in the past. After downloading the CSME detection tool it tells me my system is not supported. Do I want to update this after the BIOS is updated?

Also still not sure as you didnt answer, update BIOS before or after upgrading to windows 10? Thanks

Sorry for the long delay. I'll get on this board for a couple days then maybe not again for a couple months. Hopefully you got Windows 10 installed.

Still if you havent yet updated your BIOS and MEI firmware, you'll find them on Bolts for Breakfast's one drive site. Link is somewhere in this thread: https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?48001-R4E-BIOS-4804-MODDED-EFI-Intel-13-1-0-2126-Download&...

Bolt's bios is updated for the specter issue, and he has a version that supports M2 drives if you are interested in that.
