cloning M.2 to m.2 on a Z390-E Strix

Hi,

I have a 500G m.2 EVO as drive C & just bought a 1T m.2 Evo. I want to clone my now C drive to the 1T drive using Acronis.

As I understand it, the 2nd M.2 slot is treated as a pcie, not a SATA. I want to do the cloning and then switch drives so the 1T is in the SATA slot. I have only cloned SATA drives, have no idea about PCIE or if a PCIE drive can be moved to a SATA location and be considered SATA.

Is there something I need to do to make this work out properly?

Thanks.

Cloning software shouldn't care if the drive is NVMe or SATA. Once you're done you can move the drives but they will not change. An NVMe drive still needs a compatible slot and it won't run as SATA. Many motherboards these days have two slots and both are compatible with either type of drive. Check your manual to confirm.
