The GTX 680 was demoed yesterday at the Game Developers Conference by Mark Rein of Epic Games. He ran the Unreal Engine 3 Samaritan demo on a single GTX 680; a feat that required three GTX 580s this time last year.

Impressive stuff !

Nvidia can take all the time they want, I don't plan purchase a new GPU before next September, but for sure tax refund will come soon for many peoples, so it will be a great time to launch it.

It ran the Unreal Engine 3 Samaritan demo but I wonder what the results were/ 2 fps, 10, 20...

Look forward to seeing the numbers this card will produce.

I doubt they'd brag about running it if it wasnt atleast at playable FPS.

We need more powerfull GPU, but they have to find a way to make them to use less electricity. It's nice to have 2 big GPU in SLI, but when you are not gaming and just chating here, they produce way too much heat.

Fermi is designed to power down when not in 3D use, Nvidia implemented this with the 200 series.

Don't they have it now where if you have 2 cards in sli and arent gaming it'll shut down one of the cards? or is that something new thats comming up with Keplar, blah, sometimes i take in way too much technical info so sometimes info gets mixed up or lost lol. As apealing as SLI seems, i honestly don't feel a need for it as I only use a single monitor, I think if i were to ever have 2 cards in my system, I'd have a main card for the main and a 2nd for a dedicated physx gpu. I'm curious why they havent started moving towards multi core gpu, like a single chip sli solution or have some cores handle rendering, and others handle physx.
