Hi,

You can see the version of the package in your installed apps (Windows Settings > Apps).

If you want see the drivers versions, the easiest and fastest way is to use Driver Store Explorer (because the devices are different according to the motherboards) by looking in System devices at the Intel .inf ending with system and which have the field of the last column Device Name filled.

Note (from Intel) : Intel(R) Chipset Device Software uses an unusual date for the devices it is targeting. The date 07/18/1968 is symbolic - Intel was founded that day. The reason this date is used is to lower the rank of Intel(R) Chipset Device Software. This is necessary because it's a supporting utility that should not overwrite any other drivers.

Ok, these are the only ones I see with a date like that. Not the same version number. Wrong or correct?

For some resason I can not update this driver? I am following your intructions and still will not update?

Is there another way to install chipset driver?

UPDATE:

This driver is installed, checked in apps and I see the correct driver number. I also checked in the "driver store explorer" but it is not showing the updated driver, still showing the old one? It is also showing the old one when I check in device manager too?

Any advice will help, thanks in advance.

Hi,

If you are looking for the version number of the package you are using, you can simply see it via Control Panel > Programs and Features or via Settings > Applications : Intel(R) Chipset Device Software.

If you are looking for the version number of the drivers you are using, use Driver Store Explorer and by looking in System devices category in the INF column for the .inf files ending with system from Intel. You can see via the Device Name column which devices in the Device Manager use which drivers.

What are they?
Do I need them?
Do I need to install the "Rapid Storage Technology", to use the drivers or can I just install the drivers only?

Yes. Here are the drivers used according to the most common scenarios (excluding RAID/Optane) :

HDD/SSD SATA : Intel SATA AHCI Driver
SSD NVMe SAMSUNG : Intel SATA AHCI Driver + Samsung NVMe Driver
SSD NVMe Corsair or others : Intel SATA AHCI Driver + Microsoft built-in NVMe Driver



No, you just need to install the drivers only (AHCI only if you don't have RAID/Optane stuff).
