Hi, Just wondering because i'm new here. Are the drivers in this post considered beta drivers or something? Because I own a Strix z490-E and on the support page for my motherboard the driver versions for ME and chipset are much older than the ones in this post (the ME is even labeled "beta" on the support page since May). Would you recommend to use these ones instead because they are more recent?

Hi all, is there a problem if installing Intel SATA AHCI-RAID Drivers : 4xx : 18.30.0.1135 on a 3xx chipset motherboard? instead of 17.9.4.1017?
Drivers - 4xx : 18.30.0.1135 WHQL [17/07/2020]
Drivers - 3xx : 17.9.4.1017 WHQL [24/07/2020]
I ask because I have installed v18.30.0.1135 on my maximus XI Extreme Z390 motherboard and it's all running OK. I haven't run any SSD benchmarks with both versions so I don't know if there is any disadvantage of using v18 instead of v17.
I guess I could ask win-raid forum for there might be someone there who knows, in case there's nobody here who can shed some light on this subject. TIA for any input, folks.Last edited by XYchromosone; 09-21-2020 at 10:54 PM.

Thanks for your reply MoKiChU. This is interesting, let me explain why. The hardware ID for the "Storage controller/Intel Chipset SATA/PCIe RST Premium controller" for my Z390 is "PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2822&CC_0104"
The iaStorAC.inf file found in Driver Ver=07/17/2020,18.30.0.1135 specifically found in the folder "Intel RST v18.30.0.1135\F6\NonVMD\f6flpy-x64" has the same hardware ID, specifically the first one in the hardware ID list:
"%PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2822&CC_0104.DeviceDesc% = RAID_inst, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2822&CC_0104"
BTW the inf file "iaStorHsa_Ext.inf" found in "Intel RST v18.30.0.1135\F6\HsaExtension" also has hardware ID "PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2822&CC_0104"
So this tells me that v18 is indeed compatible with the Z390 chipset, and not just for the Z4xx
This is why I installed v18, but I asked on this thread if there is any known issue if I installed v18 on a Z3xx because the first post suggests v18 is only for Z4xx chipsets. My PC is running fine with v18, so it should because 2 of the driver's inf files has the z390 hardware ID as I've explained above. If v18 wasn't compatible with z390 the inf files in the 2 folders I mentioned above would not mention the hardware ID for the Z390. Do you see my point?Last edited by XYchromosone; 09-22-2020 at 09:25 PM.

Thanks for your reply, I appreciate it. When I get time, I shall run some SSD benchmarks with v18 and v17 to see if there might be any impact on the speed of the SSD with either driver version. This is what my original question was based on. I don't know of any app or any way to test for "compatibility" for a particular driver except for benchmarking and stability/stress testing?

Wait so asus as big company they are, not only that they don't include latest drivers on sites of their motherboards. Yet some person has to manage drivers for them in free time and post them on forums? What is this? So i am suppose to search all topics for each driver, or what? Holly... Mokichu is god, mokichu doesn't work for asus right? I don't think... Poor guy is not even paid for this :/ I am never buying anything again from asus from multiple reasons, this is just tip on the iceberg... I don't even what is going on...

It is something that I can not understand either as a brand with the name it has does not update its page with drivers and we have to investigate and search through forums.
Of course, we must be grateful for the work that the colleague does for keeping all the threads updated and giving support when there are doubts.

Dear MokiChU ,
I hope you are fine ?
I see intel ME Driver for x299 here is number 10.1.18295.8201
and The one I've CHIPSET_Intel_v10.1.18383.8213_X299
So my question to you which one is newer ?
The one you have or the one I already've
Thanks ,
