I've enabled VMD in bios and mapped a nvme drive as well as SATA SSD under it.( god know why)
Now my NvmE samsung 980pro isnt recognized by Magician ( SATA drive is recognized for some reason), also i cannot update firmware etc. I've just read that if i got single drive non-raid, i should have been sticking to normal AHCI driver instead of VMD.

Is there any way to go back? If i disable vmd now in bios my system wont boot.

EDIT: SATA under VMD is recognized without issues.
Nvme gets a compatibility error saying that the driver which the nvme drive is connected to is not supported by the magician software

Google this for more info. I built 2 Z690 TUF Gaming Plus WIFI D4's. My 1st build the same you are experiencing happened to me. To reverse this you have run MSCONFIG, enable safeboot, disable the VMD controller in BIOS, safeboot will load the AHCI drivers, go back to normal boot. You might have to boot up a couple of times. Once booted up normally. I enabled the VMD controller but left both mapping options disabled. Again, Google this for a more detailed explanation. Has worked perfectly for a couple of weeks now. Samsung Magician now sees both of my NVME drives and all drives in BIOS are AHCI (the 4 SATA) or NVME (the 2 NVME) & none under Raid.

I should add there was no performance difference running either way per Samsung Magician benchmarks read/write etc. The boot time was 3 seconds faster not mapping under VMD. Also, the Samsung driver 3.3 is somewhat outdated. I'm speculating that the Windows NVME drivers are pretty robust hence Samsung has not updated theirs recently. I'm running Windows 11 Pro FYI clean install new builds.

New build - Z690 Extreme / Windows 11 Pro

ASUS phone support - no solution (not even an attempt) - escalated case multiple times - no response from higher level tech.
Intel phone support - "Can't understand how ASUS is structuring / naming their Drivers on Support Page - Advise waiting for ASUS."

ISSUE: Device Manager showing 3 YELLOW TRIANGLES
Other Devices
- PCI Device
- Raid Controller
- SM Bus Contoller


Suspect initial Chipset / Intel ME updates.

After 1st Boot - updated to most current BIOS - vers. 1101
After Windows 11 Pro Install - updated to most current drivers found - all from Support Website 1st . . . or any remaining from Amoury Crate 2nd (if it was newer)
Windows updates were done last

Currently installed Chipset: ????. ?. ??. ? I installed latest (2145.1.42.0) from Website - but can't find anything named 'Chipset' on system
Currently installed Intel ME Driver: 2145.1.42.0 I never installed from Website - but appears in Device Manager (same as Intel ME & same # as 'Chipset')
Currently installed Intel Firmware: 16.0.0.1423 I never installed from Website - but appears in Device Manager (newer appears available 16.0.15.1620)

Amoury Crate - still calling for last remaining update: 'Intel Chipset Driver' vers. 10.1.18838.8284 but this looks outdated & oldest vers. on the Website page.

Is Amoury Crate still calling for 'Intel Chipset Driver' because that has 'not' been installed, or is not recognized?


I've read multiple threads . . . but, I'm unsure how to proceed . . . and how to clean this up.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have a look at post #297, there you will find how to clean things up, and start fresh. You find all the drivers you need in here, the user MoKiChU have all the drivers posted. Short: You need to have Chipset drivers installed first before anything else.. Chipset drivers are not listed in "System" but in "Programs -> Programs and Features, you will see the chipset listed there.

Per issue - resolved with assistance from MokiChU (& SimkIn) for Uninstall --> deleted previous Intel Chipset, Intel IO, & Intel ME via applications. However, for install route took more route more consistent with my skill level - installed Chipset & IO from Amoury Crate & one additional driver via Snappy Driver.

Device Manager - No more Yellow Triangles!
