GL504GM - Fresh windows install on new SSD missing missing fan control visual feedbac

I replaced my 256GB SDD with a 1TB disk due games that won't fit anymore (thanks Modern Warfare for 180GB). Now with a fresh windows install the fan speed control via FN-F5 doesn't give visual feedback anymore when toggleing through the options (silent/balanced/overboost).

Whenever I open ROG gaming center I can see it works and changes. However I want the overlay to return so I don't have to check gaming center.

Also, volume buttons, mic button, rog key, etc. does work including the visual feedback.

Any idea what I missed?
