    Hey everyone,

Just have a question about installing motherboard drivers on the z490 Strix E. I downloaded the necessary drivers from the asus support page for 64bit OS and the folders are labeled 64bit but the AsusSetup.exe inside the folder is labeled AsusSetup(32) when I launch the .exe for some of the drivers such as LAN, Chipset, and MEI. Does this actually matter? The older LAN driver has AsusSetup(64) in the folder.

I have a z490-G wifi board, and im having a miserable time plagued with this "Intel I255-V" issue.
I bought this board for its size, not the wifi capability. I want to use Ethernet.
I have already had to exchange the board once because I did EVERYTHING EVER LISTED ON THE INTERNET (including the obscure "windows settings disabled" combined with rain dances at 3:13AM on a Thursday to try and get the Ethernet port to work, but nothing succeeded.

Seriously, the juggle that Intel has imposed on us is not cute or funny, in anyway at all.
I am a $&#*@$! pissed off customer right now.

I have no lights on the back of the board. No matter what I do, Windows is constantly saying "an Ethernet is unplugged"
I have gone through the 1.45 firmware update.
Ive gone to 607 and 707 BIOS.
    Ive done drivers 1.0.0.9, 1.0.0.13, 1.0.1.4, 1.0.1.7.
    Ive done power downs.
I have repeated all of these steps, with constant fresh reformats, much to my M.2 ssd's dismay.

All of this was done on the board I exchanged.
I now have a completely untouched fresh board installed with fresh windows and it is still doing the exact same issue (No lights, same constant error).
I am unsure how to proceed.

The physical board has a "rev 1.03" written under the name.
It is currently sitting with stock BIOS 407.
It currently is sitting with Driver 1.0.0.13, as per the "auto download Ethernet driver" that the z490-g does when you turn on a fresh install.

    Please. Someone.

Tell me HOW to update this thing for success and HOW to make sure I NEVER have to mess with this again?
What is the issue with this port, and will this board be a nightmare for the rest of my ownership?
How and When will this board be completely rid of this bug/hardware(?) issue?

    Im most unexcellent over here.
    I need help.
    Thank you.
I had somewhat similar issue and I couldnt use internet port, so did my update using the WiFi antenna, Since I see you didn't write it down on your post - After the v1.0.1.4 have to actually (shut down and *unplug the power cord* for a few sceconds then reboot the system normally)?... Then go and update Intel I255-V through Asus Armor Crate?

I don't like messing with BIOS in the first place, at the same time we need the updates, I decided to do so and now I'm having an issue with the BIOS v0707
I keep getting "Not the correct BIOS" message every time I try to update. I don't understand? It's pretty much simple, yet I always go through some issue with this particular motherboard...

I follow the instruction on Asus Support Site : BIOS v0707 2020/08/28
Before running the USB BIOS Flashback tool, please rename the BIOS file (SZ490G.CAP) using BIOSRenamer."
then copy it to USB etc... Well, that's not working?!

    - I remember someone here told me you don't need to use BIOSRenamer" and just use the file as is or rename it yourself, so he gave me the file as is
(ROG-STRIX-Z490-G-GAMING-WIFI-ASUS-0704) and I copied it to USB and that work! I was able to update my BIOS.

    - I thought let me try that and I went re-opened the WinRaw Zip file out and just copied the file as is (ROG-STRIX-Z490-G-GAMING-ASUS-0707) without using BIOSRenamer"
and I still get the same "Not the correct BIOS"

    I'm a bit confused.

PCIe 4.0 is a topic with M12 and riser cables.

I currently use a PCIe 3.0 riser cable (Asus ROG Strix Riser), which has 240 mm length. That is fine as long as I want to use View 91's vertical mount, but I've also been considering just hanging the video card inside the chassis. To be precise, I tested that with my GTX 1080 Ti, and that worked like a charm with steel threads.*

That is how it looks like: https://www.reddit.com/r/thermaltake..._bummed_about/

Here is my question. For more freedom while hanging the video card inside the chassis, I need a longer riser cable, and those things aren't really cheap. I would like to future-proof that purchase with a PCIe 4.0 riser cable. And you may be already guessing my question: how would that work with M12E and my current PCIe 3.0 video card? Also, how will that play out when I get a PCIe 4.0 video card with a M12?

If it wouldn't work, I could also get a PCIe 3.0 riser cable. Shame that it would eventually become a bottleneck when both the mobo and the video card go PCIe 4.0.

    * - Note, the steel threads are conductive, and if they snap, they could short more than one thing. Though, I couldn't snap these threads with much more force than my GTX 1080 Ti's mass produces. I was looking for carbon fiber threads but couldn't find any so far. I suppose that with a long-enough riser cable, a video card can also be hung outside the chassis to avoid the shorting-out risk (dust, noise, damage risk, space usage, and probably harder liquid cooling being the downside). I take the option to keep the video card inside the chassis.

    Hi,

    I need VCore=1.25 load to be stable @5.1GHz ...

    I can do this with:

    VID=1.34 and LLC=6
    or
    VID=1.28 and LLC=7

    Which the better choice ?

Is there any problem using a high LLC level?
