A question about isolating the mobo sound. I've switched from my AE-9 (sound card) to the M12E sound, to test if I could actually move the AE-9 elsewhere.
The mobo sound is plagued by a lot of coil-whine-like screeching coming out of the speakers at many different frequencies, even when the graphics card isn't really doing much (e.g., when I type this message). Is there a way to get rid of that?
For a sample, here Jay talks about a similar sound coming from the graphics card itself, except I really hear this from the speakers.

The thing is, my graphics card is even vertically mounted. That said, it is reasonably far away from the mobo. Also, when I play sound with AE-9, the screech just isn't there. It has got to be that something is affecting the mobo sound.

I actually had/have a similar issue with my AE-7 and also sometimes (less) with my current X3 that i switched to to try and fix it
I was able to make it almost imperceptible with something like this:
AUKEY Ground Loop Noise Isolator for Car Audio System/Home Stereo with 3.5mm Audio Cable
https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B01...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Although my issue was more when the GPU was taxed the speakers JBL LSR305s would pass through the coil whine
To me the issue is "fixed" on my system (i think the root cause might be the old PSU or probably incorrect wiring in the wall outlet), hopefully that helps you with your issue, good luck

Thanks. For clarity, the sound from AE-9 is crystal-clear, and the sound card is 1-2 mm apart from the vertically mounted 1080 Ti. It is the M12E's sound that is affected big time, and AE-9 doesn't suffer any effects.

@Morph
Did you get your GPU block installed, how's the temps on your card vs stock cooler.
I just pre-ordered the Special Edition Quantum Vector FE block, is expected to ship out in early March. Search results for: 'EK-Quantum Vector FE RTX 3090 D-RGB - Special Edition' – EK Webshop (ekwb.com)
I'll run some benchmarks with Optimus block vs Quantum Vector when it arrives, will be selling the looser.

Yep it is on and did this in TS: http://www.3dmark.com/spy/17560878 & this in PR: http://www.3dmark.com/pr/794307
Urm.. warzone tonight it was hitting around 43-45 degrees with 22-23 ambient water temps was hitting around 36 degs. Stock cooler runs that at around 55-60 degrees (max fans).Last edited by morph.; 01-21-2021 at 03:10 PM.

Vary nice!,.. The minimal RGB, Distro plate is looking sweet!
Your GPU block connection terminals are different than on the FE block, I like how they supply a set of terminals for conventional or direct connection.
Do you have clearance for swapping out memory modules.

we've been demoted. It should have been a new forum z590/Z490 motherboards, but I guess it reflects that Asus doesn't care much about supporting the last generation motherboards anymore.

+1,.. we are now in the elite Other Series Motherboards.
I thought it was strange to start a New Thread for Z590 which is basically not released yet. The Egg has Maximus XIII Hero board listed today as in stock, and the Prime, Strix, TUF boards releasing on 01/25/2021. So most likely going to be awhile before anyone actually has a Z590 build completed and would need a New Thread to ask questions, perhaps they expect a lot of issues with that chipset and figured rather than just having a Post like "Asus Z590 Stuff" would be easier to navigate for users trying to seek information or resolve issues.
