Yep, that is normal, running 4 DIMMs or dual-rank sticks is more strenuous for IMC's. For best results, its always 2x8gb boards such as the apex will be best for maximising the oc and memory trace/signal strength.
Interesting, I didn't know about the gears, but I noticed I can't push my F4-4000C15Q-32GTZR past 3733 MHz with i9-10900K.

Why not 2x 16GB or even 2x 32GB? That will become a thing with 8k gaming. E.g., with 32 GB RAM, I was only able to play Control at 8k when I enabled 32GB paging file. And it still used up over 18 GB of VRAM on top of it.

10th gen doesn't have gears it's a new introduction to rocketlake, there is no 3733 wall with it.

    I had my 10850k run 4400mhz c17 on dr bdie 2x16 if I recall.

I just wanted 32GB of 4000 MHz CL15 for once in my life. The F4-4000C15Q-32GTZR is in the QVL for the M12E, so is i9-10900K. It just didn't work.

    Nicely done sir.

Vince over at EVGA has been testing the new Z590 Dark board, it is a beast. He is running sub 35ns Latency with Dual Rank B-Die, TRFC 170 / CR 1T.

I'm still on the fence about building a RL rig but seeing the 590 Dark testing results, and fact the board is launching this week in UK,.. I'm going to pull the trigger if I can snag the 590 Dark. 3811MHz CL12 might be worth while testing on your XII board, see what shakes out.

Ah yes, about the gears, maybe they are the product of some characteristic that was noted, I wouldn't outright discard the 3733 MHz wall I observe with four sticks.

Though, I am contemplating sticking these two into my M12E: F4-4000C14D-32GTZR .

I aim lower, fine by even 4000 MHz CL15.

By the way, I just checked M12E QVL. It doesn't seem to have been designed to take 1.55V RAM, so it's perhaps a bad idea to go for F4-4000C14D-32GTZR , and for that kit from your screenshot atm.

You need to put a 120/140mm fan ontop of your RAM if you run 1.45v or more VDIMM and you'll be fine

Yeah honestly id be tempted to get an Apex Z590 but I'll just wait for the z690.

The z490's have a latency bug with RKL and with my timings, I should be well under 40ns now seen some with very similar timings in the 36-38ns if I had a Z590 apparently.
