Ok, 68 is for Asus prediction, I thought it was the temperature for CB r20
Indeed, 90° is really hotSorry for my english

at 4.8GHz mine runs with 80-90°C in cinebench with 1.25v
w/ stock voltage at 1.38v 110°C after 2 sec also instant throttling
anyway to disable ASUS Auto Voltage?

As always, it really depends on CPU and cooling
Seen a 10980xe on a forum, at 1.20v and 4800mhz, the hottest core is at 75° under Cinebench 15
80° with RealbenchSorry for my english

cinebench r15 is not as stressful as r20 so 75 is about right.
However one thing I would like to say upfron for someone looking to purchase or to looking for guidance to overclock this cpu.
1. Please please please don’t expect the chip to run like 5.0 all core for 24/7 while being fully stable (prime and linpack stable) without exotic cooling. And no even 4.8 needs jackpot and beefy cooler. 4.6 all core is what you can really expect.
*
2. The reviewer out there has binned chip. If you look at lumii video he ran his chip at 5.1 easily but well it is only for benching and most likely won’t be stable enough for daily use.
3. Silicon lottery with this chip or really any high core count cpu is not a big issue because you will run into thermal issue first except if you run exotic cooling. For example my chip needs 1.3v for 4.8 prime stable while my friend’s with 90 sp Asus prediction only needs 1.2v however somehow the thermal is almost the same thus he can’t go any higher even if he has voltage headroom. For benching with ambient cooling yeah his chip is better but not for daily usage. So yeah you probably can save some electricity with good silicon but still these chips consume upwards of 400 watts in normal situation. Besides if you want to go extreme cooling, chip with higher vid normally do better once you remove the heat for the equation (because inherently it can pass higher current).
4. So yeah stop looking at review out there and decide whether you need this chip which will run at 4.6 all cores. Don’t expect too high. You will be lucky if you can run 4.7 without warming your room as it dump quite a lot of heat. Of course this is depends on your room but I find 4.6 is really the sweet spot with both 68 sp chip and 90 sp chip. This is realistic.

For warmth, it's better to have a 7980XE delided
Mine at 4600mhz and 1.13v hardly heats up
With CB R20, the hottest core is 66° (65° with CB15, no real difference)
A little warmer with Aida64, Realbench, OCCT, etc ...
Currently, I don't do any more tests, I surely have my WB "clogged" or the metal liquid to "redo" (2, 3 cores are extremely hot in load)Last edited by tistou77; 05-30-2020 at 12:19 AM.
