Z390 not going into Speedstep state
Having an issue with Asus Z390 Mobo
I frequqently spend long times away from PC, but when checking the cpu-z it almost never detunes the CPU(Speedstep)
I want to to do this as its just wasting money and creating excess heat.
Have tried enabling it in bios and in power settings win 10.
Have tried disabling MCE and updated all chipset and MEI drivers.
please help!

Win 10 set to balanced
Set BIOS defaults
This should work.
You say "almost never" ...meaning the CPU does step down sometimes? If so, its not a setting preventing it. You may have a hanging process keeping your CPU occupied.

Check out the link below. This should help you figure out what is waking your PC. FYI, option one in the help article will disable the option to have your mouse wake your PC when you move it.

Like I said earlier, go to the website to learn how to use the Lastwake command. It's option 3. It will tell you the last thing that woke your computer.
