Some questions about my build.

Hi all!
I think I have some problems with my build:

AMD Ryzen 3900X
ROG Ryujin 360
ROG Crosshair VIII Formula

The issues I'm encountering are the following:

1) CPU Package temperature shown in Fan Xpert 4 (set in Standard Mode) is always around 53° with CPU at around 10% (Web browsing) and fan at around 800 RPM;

2) there is another voice (CPU) that is lower at 43°;

3) I've got a 5.1 speaker system, Realtek drivers and Sonic Studio installed, but the sound output with the volume maxed out is still low.

4) I think it's the ROG Ryujin little fan that is always at max speed resulting too loud.

For 1) I've also made some changes in Extreme Tweaker as it was shown in a video on Youtube:

- CPU Core Voltage: Manual
- Override 1.3
- CPU SOC Voltage
- VDDSOC 1.2
- DRAM Voltage 1.35
- CLDO VDD6 Voltage 1.0
- 1.8V PLL Voltage 1.8

Because as shown in the video those options were too high at stock.

If someone can help, it will be really appreciated.

You need to NOT follow anything jay2cents suggests. This is not a credible source for Ryzen anything. He should stick to Intel, its all that he knows. What you're doing by listening to him is saying that ASUS on Auto wish to kill your CPU via too much voltage or HEAT and thus cause an RMA - Does that sound believable to you ?

Do you have the latest BIOS installed ?
https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/ROG-Crosshair-VIII-Formula/HelpDesk_BIOS/

Do you have the latest chipset drivers installed from AMD ?
https://www.amd.com/en/support/chipsets/amd-socket-am4/x570

What version of Windows 10 are you running (at search bar type {CMD} then {VER} to find out.)

Hi RedSector,
thanks for your reply.
I made a screenshot of CPU-Z about BIOS and Chipset driver.
The Windows 10 version is 10.0.18362.900.

So, checking on ROG Crosshair VIII Formula drivers' website, after the BIOS version EZ Update installed on my mobo there is version 1105, 1201 and 1302.
1) Should I install them sequentially or I can directly install 1302 without the 2 previous? (The strange thing is that EZ Update doesn't show me the 3 updated BIOS).

2) For the AMD Chipset Driver, should I install the one on Asus website (V2.04.09.131 released 11 June 2020) or the one from AMD website (V2.04.28.626 released 03 June 2020)?

3) About the instructions I've followed on that video, should I reset the BIOS to Auto as it was before (maybe after I update it)?

Thanks again for your reply.

(1) Just install the latest 1302. Don't have to installed them one after each other. Download, extract and put on a USB stick and install via BIOS is the best method. Within the BIOS is thing call AGESA which is binary written by AMD, you will always want the latest one of these. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AGESA also contains any fixes or changes Asus may have made (thus latest is best)

(2) As per my link, the one from AMD website. The Asus site is not current and you want current driver.

(3) Use Auto. Unless you manually overclocking (sometimes still use auto when o/c) or you have a specific reason to manually set them (undervolting more than 0.1 Volt tends to lead to a matching performance loss).

With AMD Ryzen your best off using the latest BIOS and chipset drivers unless you find some specific issue or fault that prohibits their use.
I think you will find the issue with temp will be fixed once you have the latest BIOS and AMD driver installed.

Microsoft Windows [Version 10.0.19041.329] currently you can download (2004) version using direct links, available here or wait for it Automatically upgrade:

Hi RedSector,

I've just installed the 1302 BIOS update and latest AMD Chipset Drivers (for the Windows Update I'll wait it does it automatically).
The BIOS after installation returned all to Auto, so I hadn't to set back them manually.
When I turned on the PC and checked AMD Ryzen Master for temperatures, it was staying at around 64°-65° with CPU at 4.2 Ghz.
I then opened AI Suite 3 for more confirmation and it was the same. Then I noticed (ok, maybe I'm stupid I hadn't noticed it before) in the upper right the 3 options modes (Performance, Power Saving, Away Mode), clicked on Power Saving mode and now it's staying around 38° with 2.2 Ghz.
Finally I'm having very good temperatures when idle (max around 50° when playing).

So, now the only two issues I've left are:
- The audio. I've tried installing yesterday latest Realtek update from ROG Crosshair VIII Formula website, nothing solved. Tried to disable Realtek Speakers from Windows 10, now they are totally disappeared.
- The fact that I uninstalled previously Armoury Crate, and now I cannot re-install it back (if I try to get it from Microsoft Store it downloads but get an unknown error when trying to install).

Thanks again for having pointed me on resolving my issue Red!

Hi Red, sorry if I answer you only now. I solved my audio issue by following THIS guide on Youtube and installing the driver he recommends.
With that driver magically the Speaker Fill in Enhancements tab on Audio Settings reappeared, and now it's working properly. Thank you for your appreciated help!
