ASUS Z490 Motherboards Severely Lack Behind In PCIe 4.0 Support Compared To Competito
I have read today that Asus Z490 boards Severely lack behind In PCI 4.0 ?
I have the Asus Maximus Formula XII and I am getting the feeling that this was a bad purchase.
Is this something I should be concerned about If you are planning on getting one of the upcoming Nvidia cards Ampere 30 Series that will likely be using gen 4 ?

PCIe 4.0 won't matter for another few generations unless you're in an enterprise or academic research application. It definitely won't matter for consumer gaming GPU.

+1, and same goes for storage if you don't do content creation or other data-intensive work, there won't be much benefit, though down the road there may be some scenarios that can take advantage of the full 5GB/s speed.

Intel decided the PCIe 4.0 standard was not enough of a performance boost to make it worth while. Since the Z490s are Intel boards, they do not have PCIe 4.0.
If you have a Ryzen processor with an AMD motherboard, I will assume it does PCIe 4.0..

MSI & Gigabyte I added the PCIe 4.0 on some mobos, but its no guarantee the Intel 11th Gen will have it. All a gamble at this point.
