Do we need to replace the thermal pad for m.2 drives?

Hi all,

I need some advice.

My nmve m.2 drive (Corsair MP510 480GB) needs replacing due to a fault.

I have it installed in my ROG CROSSHAIR VII HERO m.2_1 (bottom slot) with the heatsink; which also included a thermal pad.

Do I need to replace this thermal pad when replacing my m.2 drive? If so, can you recommend me one?

Thanks in advance.

I've researched some options quickly on Amazon. Would any of these be any good? If so, which would people recommend?

If something goes wrong... https://www.amazon.co.uk/Thermal-pad%EF%BC%8C-70x20x1mm-2280-Heatsinks/dp/B07PFBPK4V/ref=sr_1_7?crid...

Hi Arne, thank you for your reply. Due to the time I need the new part, I looked further through results.

Would this one be a good enough option? This one I can get the next following day when ordered rather than waiting for the one you linked to (2-3 weeks to arrive).

I'd rather replace the current one with a new one.

Yeah...looks the same thing to me...should be fine

Just to inform, I went and purchased the below thermal pad set and one of these is cooler than the default one which is supplied by Asus with the board. At least 5-8 deg C difference 🙂
